VVIP

How many times we have to wait only becuase some VVIP is in town or just passing by; and that too after a few hours and the public transport routes have been redirected to provide him fool proof security. So much fuss to accomodate one bureaucrat. What about the other people who are waiting on bus stops? No public announcement system for them? Heck!

that is so true. and they start putting baracades on the road an hr before, but the best way to get through them is that when the expected procession is going quickly down the road start following them. you might get shot but its a quicker way than waiting for an hour.

had a similar experience which left me just as pissed off.

2001-lahore airport-flight lahore to frankfurt-cattle class (economy). there is an unbearable rush of people all trying hard to get through security and millions of check ins and check ups before their plane leaves without them when the usual happened. guy in 50s wearing airforce garb ( misuse of uniform if you ask me) sternly looking at tickets and calling out in gruff voice wing commander so and so loudly, whisks his family through the long qeue in like a minute and comes stands infront of us. Well we thought if we cant do anything about this, it being pakistan, atleast we can be vocal and make it uncomfortable for him. so some of us started condemning what he was doing loudly in english to eachother while looking at him. the idea was not to pick a fight just to make him aware that people are not blind and what he was doing was wrong.

hopefully next time he and his family will think twice before skipping qeues – we can see and we dont like it.

man! I know exactly how it feels! Ch Shujaat’s (betho betho roti khaye bagair na jaana :P) home is just a few blocks away from my office… n we have to wait atleast for an hour everytime he is there or some other VVIP’s makes a visit to his home!

but the worst case was when that ^&*#@$@#$%$^$ owner of Bank Alfalah (a princess from UAE) came to visit their Islamic Banking center a few months back.. we had to wait 3 hours at the signal near sadiq trade center!

wait till you get to rawalpindi! WOOAH! i was half thinking of wearing an army uniform myself if it meant i could make traffic stop ;-) and be waved in first! the place is teeming with people in army gear so full of themselves they are bursting out of their uniforms!

no offence to the good army people who behave like civilians when amongst them:)
