September Ki Thund??

Isn’t it too hot to be September or is it just me? I was really looking forward for some winter finally, but here I am writing about hot and humid weather – again – in September. This is just great!!. Hundreds and hundreds of moons ago when I was a very little kid, September used to be associated with back to school and beginning of thund program. The pleasant and quiet afternoons and the cold dark evenings. It was also a month to do some serious winter shopping and my mother used to bring out all the razai’s and blankets from store. For some of us, the lazy ones, it used be very tough waking up 6 o clock subah subah (early morning) – after several failed attempts of chutti – always ending up in school and all those early mornings used to be COLD. Remember? :)

Not any more, just like many other good things of Lahore, September Ki Thund has also become history and we haven’t even noticed it. Something we will probably read in history books after a decade or so, Kabhi September mein bi thund hua karti thi.

Another reason why I sometimes wish if I could turn back the clock and go back to my childhood days.
