Delectable Affair: Wall’s Carnival

Six p.m. finds me and a large brood of my cousins staring up at this sign at Fortress Stadium. I wasn’t planning to attend the fair; I can get all the ice cream I want from the store down the street. School-going cousins thought differently, who proceeded to convince me that there might be something in it for me too. I could take all the pictures I want, even of the trash can, they won’t get impatient. I am sold! Seriously, I hadn’t heard much about this event, so wasn’t anxious to troop in with 5 kids.

An extremely talented and limber young acrobat from Lahore wowed us for the first quarter of the Circus Show.

Grooving throughout their time on stage, two energetic flame dancers brought the crowd to their feet.

Spunky clowns were the next to take the stage, paired with their stilt-wearing co-performers. It was heartening to see little toddlers getting all excited when their hands were being shaken by this clown.
To top it off, there was a juggling act that ranged from flaming batons, balls, to balancing a chair on the forehead. (These pictures were so blurry, I’d rather just explain)
Aside from the Circus we attended, there was a puppet show, magic show, and a good assortment of games to choose from. Thankfully there were quite a few icecream bike-sellers, stationary for time-being, to supply choco-vanilla ice cream whenever needed.
We didn’t get to stay late enough to see the concert half, but we did spot Ali Azmat on his way into the Fortress. It turned out to be a safe, entertaining evening after all.

I was working at the second ticket booth to the
left… If you could have told me, I may have been able to give you some free tickets.
Anyways, It was so cute of your little cousins to entertain you by taking you to a place, where you would not have been to otherwise…
wow, flame dancers are always really really stunning.
Whenever I see some pics of Circus, I don’t know why does it reminds me of ‘Sould to Squeeze’ by ‘Red Hot Chillie Pepper’. Or ‘Teri Yaad’ by JaL or ‘Mora Tum Bin Jiya nahi Laagay’/'SunRe’ by an Isloo (Islamabadian) ‘Abbas Ali Khan’.
Ahh.. its a tough job to represent the truth about all these circus performers. The people who make you laugh by their ever smiling face and funny acts, but deep inside they are not more than just another underpaid individual with loads of problems that no one help them with.
hmm.. Kher.. :)
Life’s like tat!
Circuses remind me of a movie about life of performers i saw sometime back.
As for the pics ,You took the timing of the third pic is very nice.
it really sounds gr8 that a gr8 was being arranged , which entertained ppl of all age groups…ive also heard that da concert which was hed at the end was gr8 2 , n da perfomances of da stars was mind-blowing…i’d like 2 c da pictures of da concert , of every star performing in it . like Ali zafar n many other who performed …
