things strange

3 strange things that i’ve seen in lahore this week:
1. there’s a signal at the main market/mm alam intersection, where all three lights, red yellow and green remain lit up simultaneously. Confused and happy, basically do whatever you want.

2. Maatam on the streets at defence moar (defence ‘turn’) (I dont know what the road is called…the one with gourmet and mechanic workshops on it). All the traffic had to be diverted to the other side of the road, and we had to drive through a road cut in half while the police surrounded the crowd on all sides.

3. The first open manhole that I’ve seen in Lahore so far – finally! It was almost right in the middle of the road that leads away from cavalry bridge, towards defence moar. Didn’t know if the car would’ve gone straight in it though, but have heard enough horror stories of kids falling into open manholes as a child, they were an all too frequent and nasty occurence where I grew up.

Hey you dumb..s learn to respect and understand where the rest of humanity is coming from. I am sooooo sorry that some people inconvenienced your route to the DHS one day. However i am sure you dont mind when your f…ing rulers divert traffic daily from where they are passing and in the process cause deaths of many people who are stuck in the shitty traffic in ambulances trying to reach hospitals….Have you ever wondered why pissy moma boys like you get a small paper cut on their fingers and it hurts soooo much and gets infected and why all the torn flesh and “self mutilation” of these millions never get infected…GETS YOU THINKING, DOESNT IT?

thankyou for assuming that im a mammas boy.
i didn’t imply any kind of disrespect, is it not self-mutilation that is practised? it was a statement of fact, not value, please don’t jump to conclusions and get into heated arguments before READING what i’ve written.

ps. as a matter of fact, i DON’T condone inconveniences to public transportation in the name of ‘rulers’ passing by. You really should have a better argument for disrupting traffic and public safety (do you think ambulances would have an easy time crawling through a road cut in half?) than ‘the government does it, so we can do it too’.
anyway, i’ve taken the word ‘self-mutilation’ out of the entry in case it was offensive to anyone, it was just meant to call attention to the blatant disregard for other people that sometimes people exercise while practising their religion.

    Mr. Mahboob,

Firtst thing, its not Imam Bara, its Imam Bargah.

Secondly, no body wants to do anything in middle of the road. Its a century old ritual which shites Muslims follow every year. This is to remember the march of grand daughter of our Prophet Mohammad (PUBH), from battle ground of Karbala, to Damascus (in Syria). For your information she was forced to ride all the way without a proper veil (in your words “Bay Pardah”).

Am sorry to say and feel so ashamed, that we muslims let that thing happened that grand daughter of our own prophet was treated like this in the era and by a “so-called Muslim caliph”.

I dont mean to disrespect anyone, nor want to make a religious comment on this blog. Its just to correct the records and to clear the doubts.
