Ethics, where are the DAMNED Ethics?

Oh MY GOD!
I have noticed this quite some time back, frankly. Specially on Geo TV’s ‘Capital Talk’. Whenever the host (Hamid Mir, I think) would invite politicians to ‘discuss’ IMPORTANT issues, all hell will break loose. Contrast that from another episode of the same show where the guests are NOT politicians, and the difference was stark and very, very shameful. The other guests would, y’know, talk. Discuss. Heated discussions and tempers rising once in a while, but all the while ubiquotously following generally accepted norms of a healthy debate. And the ‘politicians’, and this applies strictly to politicians here as per my observation, when they would talk, they would re-define the word itself: talk would then mean talking all at once. Coupled with accustaions based on nothing but a hightened blood pressure!

Today, at about 9ish in the morning, I had the utmost pleasure of watching our illetrate politcians go at it with full gustow. The culprits were Maha Raja Tareen, an MPA I believe of the ruling party, and Ghulam Abbass, a PPP(P) representative. It was for the first time I had seen any of the two and it did not take me long to form an opinion about them. An opinion based on facts, on ‘eye-witness reports’ if you may, and the opinion is that both of the ‘politicians/public represtantives’ are complete and without a doubt JAAHILS of the highest order!!

Why such a harsh comment, you’d ask. And you’d be right, it is a harsh thing to say. But you had to see it to believe it. I would request BusinessPlus to upload that show’s video online for everyone to see that we are ‘ruled’ by illetrates. The host, Mubashir Lucman (hosting the show LUCMAN DOT COM) was smiling all the while, probably aware of the jackasses the two ‘politicians’ were making themselves. The host would dare ask a question to one of the two, and WHAAM… both of them would start talking, NAYY, SHOUTING… both of them would start shouting and on top of that, accusing each other. I swear upon Allah, I have not seen children even behave that way, and trust me, I have seen misbehaving children. Both of them, especially the ‘lady’, are a cOMPLETE DISGRACE to any and every Pakistani. And even to Muslims. Because it is Pakistanies AND Muslims that are representated, theoretically at least, by the ‘politicians’.

And the worst part, the worst of the worst part, is that it is not the lack of education that causes our politicians to behave much worse than the most uncivilized of people, it is the lack of ethics and your average good human behavior (such as letting someone finish his or her sentence, for example heh). Believe it or not, Mrs Maha Raja Tareen is an M.B.A. from the States (University of Wyoming). What I saw this morning on our local channel has just confirmed my belief that our politicians are not running the country, someone or something else is. They can not even talk, much less manage or dare I say, lead.

God bless us all. Aameen.

TRG Pakistan : Recruiting Pigs?

UPDATE: 06-JUN-06 (Thankyou SmudgeStick)

Thank you Bilal for the story.
NOTE: the first comment this post recieved SET ME straight. I had done a very stupid thing and written a full fledged opinion based on someone’s accusation. I should have checked it out before publishing this. For total lack of responsibility on my part, I am sorry. In any case, I did check it out from a TRG employee and the story checked out.
It seems that TRG, apart from employing ‘carreer oriented’ people, are employing Pigs as well. Pigs of guinea type, it seems.

It is disgusting, really. All of us know that ‘bad’ things happen, and more often than not ‘bad’ people are responsible for it. But as a collary to Bernanrd Shaw’s observation that most humans enjoy war as long as it doesn’t effect them directly, we tend to get along with injustice as long as it does not effect us directly.

So much for the grand Quranic Injunction that a Muslim should promote ‘good deeds’ and try to stop ‘bad ones’.

In an attempt to stop bad things from happening, I am trying to here to satisfy my guilty-concious that ‘ahaa, I am doing something by bringing a bad act to light’. I sincerely hope that out of the 17000 or so visitors that visit Lahore Metblogs on a monthly basis, at least one of ‘em will be in a position to take action. My guilty-concious seems to have a low threshold, I am just hoping that your’s doesn’t.

Employees at TRG recently spoke out against the drug testing procedure that was carried out to ensure a ‘drug free’ environment in the company. “There was no documentation or paperwork given to any one of us that stated who was testing us and why”, an employee said. As is the case all around the world, it is a general procedure that each employee in a corporation is given a document that states the Time and date of the test, Reason for the test, Authorization of the test and by whom, The credentials of the testers, Employee details, Venue of the test and so on. This document is signed and verified by all those involved in this procedure and a copy is held by each employee for future reference. None of that happened…
