    Cafe Zouk licence suspended

    LAHORE – City District Government on Monday suspended license of Cafe Zouk, MM Alam Road for storage of substandard food items in freezers and unhygienic conditions at kitchen. The restaurant owner has been directed to stop business till the improvement of conditions at the kitchen.
    On growing public complaints, District Officer Food Ch Munir Ahmed carried out surprise inspection of the restaurant. He recovered substandard food items stored in freezers while the cooking pots were also not usable, which were destroyed on the spot. Food squad had earlier served corrective measure notice to the restaurant but without any feedback from the owner. Meanwhile, Special Food Squad collectively imposed Rs 75,000 fine on 23 restaurants and hotels in different areas of the city for use of substandard and damaged crockery.
    The restaurants and hotels imposed fine included Lasani Restaurant Lakshami Chowk, Gulistan Hotel and Restaurant, Rafiq Hotel, Bolay Da Hotel and Mai Da Hotel Railway station and Clifton Hotel McLeod Road.
