Faiz's message is much clearer and tangible and he has a real following. His own struggle only gives further credibility to his message. Iqbal's position was much fluid and he said different things at different times and has therefore in my opinion not as much credence as Faiz. I suspect Iqbal's reverence in even South Asia is not as much as we like to believe and much less in the rest of the world. I prefer Faiz Ahmad Faiz over Iqbal any day. Since I was the first one to point out the 4 nobel laureates from Lahore in Metblogs, I am very pleased that this is picked up as one of the gifts from Lahore. Lahore was, and indeed is, a center of excellence. Just recently a group of students from LUMS won the prestegious Stokholm Challenge Award 2006 - The award is sometimes regarded as the nobel prize in IT !!!
