PU Hostels – IJT’s hunting grounds
Even though the Punjab University (PU) administration has taken steps to undo the decades-old hegemony of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) – the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) – on campus, PU hostels are still the centre of IJT activities. welcome to the club :>
Well, sadly IJT has got hubs in almost every university of Pakistan – at places they’re veryyy active and yet at others dormantly upto something …!
Yea…the modern robin hoods of our institutions and we have them by truck loads
One question?
What exactly is it that they are doing that is so wrong?
A simple story on a lame newspaper got us all worked up on an issue that is not the issue at all… that is my opinion, all I am wondering is what makes you guys so irritated by a bunch of bearded fellas pushing their agenda when everyone else seems to be pushing theirs? And if you are not pushing your agenda, then what are you worth anyways?
tough questions, I think.
in my personal opinion, the religious background of the society plays a vital role; a well aware person with a sound mind will not even notice those bearded fellas or any other marketing scams. unfortunately, most of the “awaam” could be very easily manipulated by using religious words, this applies to even so-called educated folks like doctors, engineers. as soon as the “word of god” hit their ear drums they go cuckoo bananas and “suddenly” realize that all their life was wasted, living out side the “daira-e-islam”. and as soon as they joined the “circle”, they keep their blinders on and close their ears. next step, they think why not drag the others to the downward spiral as its their “god given right” to pollute other feeble and like minded folks even if they have to beat the living crap out of them.
what we need is mas brain washing.
Hey Waqas, its nice to have you among us!
As far as IJT is concerned, although they are present everywhere, however, their power and influence is on the decline in major institutions like the Punjab University which itself is a good sign.
We hope that things keep getting better…
