Lahore ko Bachao…

There is an important decision scheduled to be taken tomorrow, which may have a very detrimental effect on Lahore and its future – and I decided to do a post on it for the fear that it may end up being ignored in all the mist of World Cup frenzy and the CJ’s trial. The decision is regarding the proposed felling of hundreds of trees along the Canal road to make way for a wider road. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has scheduled a hearing on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the project, submitted by NESPAK, on 14th March at Sunfort Hotel, Liberty Market at 1030 hrs.

ChenOne , however, is not the only place to shop at unbelievably low prices this spring, rather, the red hot tags have been cut down upto 70% at Men’s Store while many other major labels including Amir Adnan, Junaid Jamshed, and Maria B are also offering far more for less as they clear previous stock to pave way for upcoming Summer Collections. The only difficulty can be finding the right choice in right sizes with evergreen fashion cuts. So, hurry up to catch the fever and go on a spending-spree for it’s an opportunity not to be missed.

‘We vs. They’ factor!

Think of it as a rhapsody, rhymed again and again, in corridors which matter most at the end. A good friend who runs the only active Art school in the city of 9 million inhabitants complains a lot about the depoliticized youth of our time. Lest I forget, let me mention that I only know of two squash courts, one cricket ground, one football field with proper sports facilities in the city. That too can only be accessed with some big pockets. And I hear parents complaining about immoral activities of their young kids, one-wheeling on dangerous roads, indulging in movies and video games.

into Chicken? Head to Liberty!

By ‘Chicken’ I mean the unedible eyelet cotton fabric available in markets all over Liberty Market currently. I ended up in Liberty Market by accident , and a fortunate one it turned out to be! Tons of new ware to sift through since my last visit in December ’06, in the frenzied Shaadi Season. This time around I didn’t have to shuffle with the crowd, and made the experience quite pleasant.

UFO in Lahore

UFO

Few days back while in Lahore I witnessed an interesting phenomena in skies of Lahore – It was undoubtedly a UFO – Unidentified Flying Object – It was sheer white, visible, and it was beautiful.

The above picture is something I could manage to catch in my hurry – so now PAKISTANIS are not behind AMERICANS – wow – we’ve UFO’s too.

ps: and no its not that MET department’s plane – it was not moving like that plane usually do.

Thumbprints on the Fortress

A LMB visitor, Asad ur Rehman, just like many of us must have, noticed the latest high-tech security related practice of authorities taking thumb-prints of everyone entering the Fortress Stadium in the cantonment area. This seems to be the first public place in Pakistan to get a security check system based on biometrics.

In fact, it was exactly what I was thinking about when I visited the place by myslef yesterday. As far as I am informed, this new practice has started from just a few weeks back.

This may have something to do with preventing unwanted people inside the exclusive shopping circle of the Fortress; a precaution against increasing street crime including mobile phone snatching and car-theft, or just another gimmick to enhance the exlusivity of the place!

What do you guys think about it?
