“He fought and stood by his troops, and that is the mark of a great man. And the last e-mail that he sent me, just a few hours before his death, he stood by the boys. He said that they gave their 100%.” These were the few words Naseem Ashraf said for the lost soul.

The light was bright yet hearts heavy as fresh mourning petals flickered gently under sweet human breaths of prayer. The Angels had gathered softly, adorned too, in their own whites to treasure tributes to the man who asked and lived so little yet gave and played so much. Their wings, threaded with golden beaded tears of all who have wept in sorrow, listed silently as words of honour filled the room. They came from all corners of the Earth, blown in by painful wind; together they touched and joined the balances of all faiths which single parchment that hour read but one single word: Love. They whispered your mantra in the skies: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery – and today’s a gift: embrace it…”. And as they turned, heads drawn down, they carried that Gift of yours: and it has but one single word: Truth. And they promised that ev’n though there was no umpire to cry foul that cold and lonely morn … your gates were opened, God’s brought you in and your Gift shall be returned. And we shall know when it shall unfurl – the day the light gets bright! We, humbly left behind, will inherit your Gift of truth – that sacrifice supreme. Now yours is to Rest In Peace, as we embrace and reach your promised Gift. You see, your Truth dear Bob, will survive and in our whites, we’ll proudly smile … the day we see it shine. [Bob, you will forever be missed, respected, loved and appreciated. Fly high now – way above the crease. Our match has just begun. God Bless and strengthen your loved ones.]
