For all those who are desperate but cannot visit KaraFilm festival, there’s nothing to be sad.

They do come up with ‘The Best of KaraFilm’ at Alhamra – Lahore just after the original one ends in Karachi.

As PS said, it depends.

If they show it at PACC (Arts council karachi) & advertise it properly, it should do well.

I dunno if KARA will be showing movies @ IQRA Uni, but if they do, Zibahkhana should be a shoe-in.

Kara is still a long way to go, but even now if the director wants, the movie can get audiences @ Defence Club, Royal Rodale or Greenwich Uni (Usually the places that regualarly play host to Movie screenings).

Again, its how open minded the people are + the way the movie is marketed.

@AUNT H.: I honestly have never been to Kara FF, but i would love to. But as I am always keen to know about Kara and i observed that most of the films in it are better to categorize as Art Movies, keeping that in mind it really is unlikely that a movie like Zibahkhana will make it there.

But, this does not mean that they don’t have any place for a horror movie like this. You doubt about winning awards and/or will it get along well with the typical audience, but i believe, as its director Omer Ali Khan said, that a good movie is that keeps you stick to your chair and thats it, if you feel bad or good about it afterwards, its a different story, because everyone has different taste. Yes, its for youth, and it has nothing that you can relate with an art movie’s subject, but i hope if its gonna be there in Kara, its gonna be recognized as good experiment.

So i think, its all about its writer and director, that what he is looking forward to in terms of reward, a bunch of awards or nominations, or just a pat on his shoulder, for his very own experimental Zibahkhana.

Most importantly, marketting campaign also has to do a lot with the audience, so lets see what type of audience its gonna catch, if at all, in Kara.

Question is will a Midnight Movie like Zibahkhana go down well with the artsy crowd of the Kara film festival? i have my doubts.

Zibahkhana is a film for the youth…a cult, popcorn movie that is a riot and a half but unlikely to win many awards and also unlikely to appeal to the folks at Kara who like to appear to take their films very seriously indeed.

We were laughing because of the crowd’s comments and their nonseriousness, not because of some hideous scenes, dialogues, acting or something like that. A pure Pakistani entertainment indeed, a must for KARA.

Thnx for ure thoughts. KARA enteries are submitted in Augest, a lot of karachites are really looking forward to this & hopefully Omar does submit it. If nothing else, the movie looks like it would be a good laugh! btw if anyone is interested Check out their official site & their myspace.
