This old man was thinking while sitting alone, at the gate of a house. He was not looking worried for anything, you can see cool and calm expressions on his face, TOTAL CHILL.

Now can you imagine yourself this old, how would you be chilling in Lahore?

when i am old, i would want to be living in the himalayas… on some far off mountain, away from everything….

    heck… maybe i should just go there… sooner :)

OPee) bilkul ghalat, this baba can even now be talking on cell, or chatting away his hours on phone using “that somebody’s” land line.
But the people of this generation are content, they do’nt care for material things, this anxiety and fever of success is gift of our inferior times. Have u ever seen a baba of this type ever running after new clothes, new shoes better food…they take life on moment by moment basis and never forget to thank god for his blessings.
I for myself would not want to reach an age as old as him, i’d rather die soon and instantly without ever being a burden on my relatives.
but if God destines me to live so long i would have a charpai under tahli ka darakht and lie on it all day long reading books.

May bhi he is doing a ‘dharna’ at the owner’s door. May be the owner ows some money and has to pay this old man back. Or may be the old man himself is the owner of this house and came to take rent from the tenants?

@Moz Bijli: Jokes apart. Its us at the age of 20-40 that mold our lives such a way that money becomes our high priority. Its not the need, its the hunger!

Yes, men at this old age are never hungry for a materialistic life anymore. No matter what I said, but at the back of my head I was praying and I wish that this person has contentment in whatever life is left for him, and the hereafter! Ameen.

@OP: He was just sparing some quiet moments a.k.a. “Qelola” :) as most of us do in afternoon in free times. What attracted me was his style of sitting and the worry-less face in this time of loadshedding and month of budget. He lives there as a servent. He smiled when i asked him for this picture :) …..he looked so cool and posed for it very seroiusly. We wont be that cool in our old ages, as we are living more stressful lives (as you said money factor is involved a great deal) and we get our faces deshaped before time.

    Plastic surgery, zinda baad.

Very true indeed! Nice observation P.S. I must say!! While many would just see and ignore it without giving it a ponder and even if some do they would walk on without capturing it in camera. It takes a wisdom and eye to grab such beauty and moment. Nice work P.S.!! :)

As far as qelola is concerned. Muddat hui aisa kuch kiyay howay. Huq-ha! Dil dhoond’ta hai, phir wohi, fursat kay raat din. :)

The creases on his face reflect much more than just ‘TOTAL CHILL’…what the normal eye may not capture are the hardships that this man may have seen in his lifelong tenure…

  23. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 18th, 2007 @ 3:31 pm

@Esem: I guess his creases are natural and are the ones which come with old age. Early creases are modern age gift to us, you can notice many around with them around u. Baba g is mashallah 70+.

  24. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 18th, 2007 @ 3:35 pm

Now its time for him after spending lifetime facing hardships to have some free moments and chill…like we will be chilling the same way in our old age.

  25. hareem seher (unregistered) on June 18th, 2007 @ 7:04 pm

  28. Hasan Mubarak (unregistered) on June 21st, 2007 @ 9:30 pm

Is long life a blessing or suffering?

  29. hareem seher (unregistered) on June 21st, 2007 @ 9:41 pm

depends upon how u take it.

  30. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 21st, 2007 @ 10:22 pm

Life is a blessing, either long or short.

Btw if you got decent kids who really takes care of u in old age then life is blessing. If you got horrible kids, u know vamp type who are just after ur money and property, who give a damn to u when u get old …then , maybe short life is a better choice, But thing is that we dont have any choice :). So regardless how much we live, i guess we should concentrate on how GOOD or BETTER we can live under guidance of islam.
