Injured Persons Bill
We hear and read of accidents that take place around the country that have been mishandled in either hospitals or by the police. Not many of us are aware of the Injured Persons Bill that was passed by the National Assembly way back in 2003-4 and which had been passed as the law by Parliament on March 1, 2006.
The Injured Persons Bill implementation as a law was a joint initiative of MPA Sindh, Syed Irfan Ali Shah and Mensa Pakistan, as Mensa Pakistan met with Mr. Shah at a meeting and discussed the need for such a bill. In turn, Mr. Shah dug up the Bill that was passed a couple of years before but not implemented as law.
As citizens of our country and respective cities, it is not only our right to know what we are entitled to in case of an injury, but also our duty to educate others around us of our rights by practicing them whenever need be.
Not even injured persons’ rights, one should also know about the rights of a citizen, WHICH is only possible if that citizen is a law student :D here. No one takes interest in KNOWING things for sake of knowlege…
Awareness is the key, WHICH is not an easy task on mass level. U can see for yourself!
I was introduced to the law of our country only when I was in University. It is presumed by every legal system in the world that ‘Ignorance of Law is no Excuse’.
To make our children more aware of their rights and responsibilities, it is essential to include basic Law and traffic rules in the secondary school curriculum.
This is what I strongly beleive in…
