@Momekh: You are right friend, it’s sadening to see the whole world making fun of two important symbols of our religion; the burqa and the holy cleric (Maulana).

You are right we should not join’em. Instead, we can call our dear Ms as Auntie Aziz ;)

unfortunately, you speak nothing but the truth my friend.

but perhaps people like us can refrain from catching the stereotypes and then running with em… we have all cracked jokes on maulaanas and mullahs and what not… but a public forum demands a tad more responsibility, I think.

Generalizing the great term of ‘maulaana’ and then degrading it is what EVERYONE is the media is doing nowadays… and the stereortype is there also for a reason; a lot of so-called maulaanas have not even understood the responsibility that comes with wearing such a tag as maulaana.

It’s saddening, it’s frustrating… and in the words of great wannabe-realists all around the world, ‘aah, such is life’.
