DHA Cinema – a funky new addition

In a city of more than 8 million, a single worth-mentioning cinema, Sozo World, was not enough to handle the refreshingly recent releases of Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Mission Impossible III’, ‘Spiderman 3’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 3’, ‘Shrek 3’, ‘Casino Royale’ by this entity called ‘BoxOffice’ and that too within weeks of their International premiers.

It had happened never before and, now, when the local industry is struggling for survival by releasing movies like the most recent ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ and other co-productions with India including ‘Awarapan’ and ‘Qafila’, the demand for additional quality movie places has increased substantially as the public is willing to return to Cinema culture all over again.

So, cashing on the need & demand, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Lahore and Mandviwalla Entertainment, have opened state-of-the-art DHA Cinema.

The funky new place is showing ‘Die Hard 4.0’ and ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ to start with, while, the upcoming screenings include ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’, ‘Awarapan’, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’, and ‘Transporter 2’.

    Did you say Cineplex?! :|

Well on a side note: I’ve been to (not too many) but some, around the world. The pic above shows one quite upto the standards or better than many in fact!

DHA has been very strict in building standards..

The report has it that even the seats for this cinema were imported.

@A for [pine]apple: I think this one is a single-screen cinema. Cineplex is being built at M.M.Alam Road where the long-delayed IMAX theatre is also under construction.

And, yeah congrats on getting the first in Isloo!
    Asks for treat… ;)

the IMAX project at MM Alam has been ‘Stay’ed by Lahore High Court as its in direct violation of certain Laws – namely that Public parks/spaces cannot be converted into commercial enterprises. The builders knew this but were greedy as they had managed to get incredibly valuable land for FREE!! they thought that having Monis Elahi and CM in their pocket no one would challenge them but as everyone now knows our courts are not such pushovers anymore and can deal sternly with such violations of public land (it used to be a park and cricket ground).

I just saw Khuda Ke Liye at the DHA Cinema last night. I had never been to a Pakistani Cinema, except when I was very young I was taken to watch a Nadeem and Shabnam movie, and I was very impressed. This Cinema hall can be compared to the best in USA.

I have been to many in Houston, Dallas, Boston, Miami etc. and never have the seats been so comfortable with a head rest. The only issue I had was with the ceiling and side walls having a light grey wall paper. When the lights are off, it brightens up due to the light from the movie screen. I told one of the owners so after the movie and he agreed.

Take a look at my blog at http://thedostishow.blogspot.com. I used to do an online radio show, hence the name of the blog. Looking forward to your feedback.

    All the best,

they have done it again, in order to make ppl come watch the movie khuda kay liya, which let me remind you has a clear msg tht all muslims are terrorist and they should stop it khuda kay liya!!!!PLz why is every muslim questioning themselves.
This is an outcry, another addition for are so called modernist, which are rather just a bunch of ppl influenced too much by media and living abroad!!plz,i swear i am so sick of it,this will become another place for guys to chech out girls all pumped up!damn where is this country heading. where all the new generation has heads filled with air.
A dating corner, the new ‘it’ place.
If you have the slightest bit of faith avoid this place, reach out to ur friends, guide.

Calm down Madiha! Take a sip of water. Relax, take deep breaths, unstiff your shoulders, take the lines away from your forehead.

Now slowly, gradually, please tell us, did you had any bad experience in that theatre? Or have you visited that theatre anyway? Or are you just talking on your assumptions? I want to believe that whatever you are speaking is true, but please can you bring us an example if a Manager or his Co-worker at DHA Cinema has behaved badly to you? If its DHA cinema, have you tried other cinemas too? Did you get worse experience than those?

Can you please bring up some facts. Direct facts will help rather than unrelated. Direct facts will help the readers of your comments and this forum to understand the message you are trying to convey. Thanks.

Khuda Ke Liye bhi jaa kai dekhain, phir decision make karain. Afaqa Hoga!
