Ravi or Chenab..?
‘Ravi Restaurant‘ at Moulana Shaukat Ali Road is a big name in quality food and, being economical and tasty, has been a favorite choice for the big eaters. Earlier, it was only the restaurant but then they started their own new product ‘Ravi Pizza‘ which was not a big success but still it is running.
Now, following the success of Ravi restaurant a new restaurant ‘Chenab Restaurant‘ has been opened, just opposite to the Ravi Restaurant.
If we talk about the salient differences, the outlook is quite attractive & gloomy, the ground space of the restaurant is more spacious and the furnishing was quite better than the previous one.
If you are not from Pakistan, you may not be aware of the names ‘Ravi‘ and ‘Chenab‘. Actually, these are the names of the rivers in Pakistan which flow through Punjab Province.
I think soon we will have the Jhelum Restaurant, the Indus Restaurant and the Sutlej Restaurant here… and the intersection may be named as Punjab Chowk. :~D
Gourmet Restaurant took away a lot of business from Ravi. Still, it’s a nice place with good food.
How come have they started selling fried fish at Ravi Pizza… weird! 8|
I hope they fix the road too now!
My previous office location had been in Johar Town B-1 for a few months and also have studied in FAST so I had experienced almost all the restaurants around that area, which included Johar Town, Faisal Town, Model Town Link Road and Township. Being it Gourmet, Dunkin Donuts, Lahore Broast, Biryani Express, Mohammadi Nihari, AFC’s, FrieChix (both in front of Schoefat and near Shaukat Khanum), Ze-Grill, Pizza Hutt (JT), Cock’n’Bull TownShip, McDonalds (Link Road), Subway (Faisal Town), Diners, Fazal Haq Dera, Tabaq (Faisal Town), all the take-away pizza parlours around and whatnot. Out of all I believe Gourmet was best in terms of food quality and service. Worst experience was with Ravi. I have been there only once and ordered Chicken Roast. It awefully, immensely pathetic. Didn’t get courage to go again.
I think Ravi, once good, but now have gone crap. People should around loads of other options that are there.
There was a newly opened CAFE cum RESTAURANT on Allahu Chowk. It was called: Saffron. I never tried that one. It had opened just couple of weeks earlier than I flown over here. Anybody have got some feedback on it?
Oh yah that saffron looks all glitters and gold :)
BTW, any review on Gourmet’s restaurant; I started writing one a few months back after a dinner there … but left in mid-way ..!
I quite liked it … its interior too and food too … was very family like-able !!
Saffron is superb in location, clealiness and restaurant environment, however, food was so-so there…
Gourmet is always too much crowded; I won’t recommend it because of its limited menu and long waiting time.
Yes, if you want to visit gourmet. Don’t go at dinner time. And especially on weekends, Never!! Go for early dinners if u wanna enjoy best of Gourmet.
And then, after almost daily visits to one of Gourmet Bakers, you would prefer avoiding all-orange-environ. especially on a family night out.
All-orange-environment rather reminds me of SnP.
And I enjoyed the dinner time there … lolz
But yes saffron is a nice change (amidst all kinds of hospitals and its so near to home :))
Well, it was walking distance from where I worked for 5-6 months. When it was being built, I always used to wonder: What is going on over here? It was all Golden, all Glittering. Then finally a Restaurant appeared! :) But alas, never got a chance to inside and see. :)
Yea, its next to that ‘sadaan’ hospital I guess. And Diner’s restaurant.
wow!
a lot of food lovers..
except me..
;)
did any one notice that sweet little moon above the Chenab Restaurant..?
so cute..!
aww.. thats so cute.. i didn’t notice it earlier :)
And I always used to think of it as a new Hospital under construction too…
*tries to pluck that moon out of the pic*
