C’est la Vie…!

Yahi zindagi hay...

Don’t we see such scenes everyday … here or there … now and then?? Saddened for a moment … but I’ve firm belief that these hardships would make them a better person with strong belief on themselves :-)

Apart from philosophiyaan, well-fitted they are and isn’t this bike a bit elongated??

    i remmember once in college life, we were trippeling on a Vespa huh and were caught up by police right infront of FC college when we were trying to get outside. So after some debate policemen said, we’ll let you know but the only thing we wanted to know is “How you do that”. his words were, in my life i haven’t seen 3 people riding Vespa :-D ;
khair these looks like two families - and you rightly said about self-reliance.

i feel sad when people are tilting their bikes sideways just to consume that last drop of petrol in their tank… its really getting hard for a salaried person to make ends meet these days..

What about “chingjis”?.I’m sure the inventer of motorbike must be turning in his grave seeing his invention utilised to the fullest potential.

  5. Pretty Simple (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 4:09 am

Chingchi has got more power than a motorcycle and passenger setting in a chingchi is a skill only a few master :)

  6. Opee (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 10:29 am

Suddenly, I’m sad. Allah asaaniyan karay sub pay. Ameen.

  7. ralam (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 5:44 pm

It’s not sad, it’s a crime. It’s a crime that people are allowed to endanger their lives (and the lives of their loved ones) in this manner.

Yes, I know a motorbike may the only thing the family can afford, but that doesn’t make it any safer. One mistake can cost so many lives it doesn’t make sense to risk such things.

The fact that the police look the other way is also a crime. The state should not and must not lets citizens risk their lives like this.

  8. Opee (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 7:23 pm

Police have to enforce the law or Government have to furnish them with facilities? Its a whole debate. A whole pandora box to be open. But in the end, its poverty. I hope you understand! People indulge into crimes because of it.

Root cause is social injustice. V would agree with me :) . Any local Mao Tse-tung out there?

  10. Opee (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 9:06 pm

    Agreed!

  11. Opee (unregistered) July 30th, 2007 9:14 pm

Social injustice flourishes when flour is not there to eat.

I was talking to my cousin yesterday, he was asking if like in Canada, would STOP SIGNS would work in Pakistan?

I said, its social injustice. If 95% of the people are agreed to follow a rule and at the same time 5% are not, then those 95% would also get dishearted and tend to break the rules…

I think commitment is required. No matter if others are not stopping at a RED LIGHT, at least “I” should. Change begins within!

@PS/OPEE: I completely agree! Everyone should play his/her part.

But in a country ruled by ‘waderas’, I doubt we’d see things getting better without a revolution.

V a song for you on this… (lol don’t stare me, I feel like singing today)..

Its not time to make a change,
    Just relax, take it easy
Youre still young, thats your fault,
Theres so much you have to know.

I was once like you’re now..
and I know that its not easy..
to be calm… when you found something’s going wrong.

Take your time, think a lot,
    Think of everything’s you’ve got
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

And can someone explain why my brand new Mehran does not have even a single seat belt??

  17. Faraz (unregistered) August 1st, 2007 1:18 am

Hasan: you need to upgrade it to Mehran 3.1, which will autmatically install seatbelt at the non-driver’s seat, plus will give u 2 extra decibles for stereo system (which is currently not installed).

To install the stereo, you would need to upgrade to Mehran 3.7 (beta), which will also remove seatbelt from non-driver’s seat but add one at the driver’s seat, minus the hook.

For ease of use you may look into the latest release, Mehran 4.0, which actualy comes with air bags and 2 seatbelts….. the entire package only costs $49.99… plus taxes, plus warranties, plus annual maintenence, plus courier charges, plus additional surcharge (levied by govt of pakistan), plus premium for immediate installation (otherwise waiting time may be around 6-8 months).

Waisay, the Toyota that I am driving these days has its origins in Thailand, and though, the Thai were generous enough in giving seat-belts on the back seats as well, serious checks were missed to ensure their working.
