Lahore is now InterContinental

Finally, we are experiencing a rapid change in Lahore’s skyline with the rise of new multi-storeyed office buildings, residential blocks and shopping malls. Hospitality industry is not left behind with at least three new hotel developments on the go in Lahore, the latest being a grand luxury hotel by the InterContinental Hotels Group.

The InterContinental Lahore is scheduled to open by the end of 2010. With 200 hotel rooms, 100 offices, 77 serviced appartments, and noted retail space, the 38-storey multi-use complex is going to be constructed somewhere in Gulberg as announced by its developers, the Centaur Private Limited. In this regard, a signing ceremony between the executives of InterContinental Hotels Group and Centaur Private Limited was held in Singapore last week which was also attended by the Pakistani Ambassador to Singapore. details

Lahore is in desperate need of such decent, luxurious, comfortable and deluxe lodging capacity as business in the city booms and more tourists land in from across the border after normalization of relations with India.

@Opee: You’re right to the core… Even Avari wasn’t Avari from the begining. It was Lahore Hilton, later taken over by the Dinshaws who added it to their Avari Group of Hotels.
