Pakistan Air-Force Day in Lahore… (Cont’d)

There is a PAF-Day being celebrated in Lahore on 6th of September 2007 on 0900hrs at PAF Base, Lahore. More details on my earlier August post: Pakistan Air-Force Day in Lahore…

There is a (unconfirmed) news in-the-air that the new air craft JF-17 ‘Thunder’ will be Manoeuvring for public enchantment. Further to our amuse, here are some of the videos I found in Youtube world. See and enjoy.

Also, Lahoris – be sure that you treat yourself and Pakistan by visiting the Air-Show.

Oonchi, Bohat Oonchi
In Hawaon Main Rehna Hai Zindagi, Jeena Zindagi
Neeli Faza’on Say, Har Dum Nigahon Main, APNI Zameen Hai

If im not wrong, it will be held at the old airport right?
    Are cameras allowed?
There is also a bit of confusion, 6th is celebrated by the army, but airforce celebrates on the 7th. Can an old lahori confirm this?

You are absolutely right Sa’ad. The airforce day was particularly celebrated on 7th. But since a few years, I believe there is now only one day, that is called ‘Defence Day’ and its celebrated on 6th of September.

I happened to visit History of PIA forums and I found some useful information (and discussion) there as well. So here’s the link for your perusal: http://www.historyofpia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9451

    Cheers,

    September 6th, 1965 & the PAF
    By: Arshad Hussain

September 6th, 1965 will be live in our national history, a day to remember for valiant men & women, who sacrificed their day for our present and future days. When the PAF rose to meet the challenge of Indian military aggression by launching full scale air war in accordance with Air War Plan of June 29, 1965 by registering its name in the annals of air warfare against numerically superior Indian Air Force.

Air Marshal Asghar and Noor khans showed what is the professional duty of a military commander i.e., war planning, superior training of the force, institution building and leadership from the front. Without any political views against the army’s role in national politics, just on the basis of the current situation of the country, how I wish that our army be fully focused on achieving professional goals and get full support of the nation. But sadly neither of this appears to be the case.

Pakistan Air force has always performed better than the army ( not meant to degrade the army in any way), perhaps because there commanders are not distracted that much by the politics of the country.
