Bridge safety, a serious concern
After the Northern By-Pass bridge collapse in Karachi, the Punjab Government is seriously paying attention to the condition of over-head bridges and underpasses in the city.
The New Ravi Bridge is offline for repairs while several others are being inspected for any faults that may cause such an accident.
Lahore has more than six over-head bridges, eight underpasses on the canal with the ninth one under construction.
What do you think about the state of over/under-pass road infrastructure in Lahore; is it reasonably well maintained or are there any major safety concerns?
What happened in Karachi is very very sad and, i think it never happened in Lahore, like after inaugaration of a new underpass or bridge. As a citizen, i never had a complaint, these all are well maintained.
Brother that is Shershah bridge not north nazimabad bridge.
i guess ravi one is the only bridge in bad condition, all other are in decent condition (aparently) – jail road underpass is good but the road beneath was quite patchy but it was cleaned up i guess before moonsoon.
from technical design point , not sure – but KHI was a tragedy, i remmember someone dicussing design faults on KMB when this was inagurated.
been to lahore once that too a long time ago so dont remember exactly but its good they are having inspections!
Do you know the Punjab University wala underpass crossing the canal had serious water proofing problems and was submerged in water each time water was past over it in the canal twice…
Scary!
Dont telmeee……..really? Thats not scary, thats SO dangerous then.
I’m afraid of dying stuck in my car in the middle as water floods the underpass
Btw, i have seen that underpass full of water once…and yes, it can be really bad if one stucks there. God bless us.
