@Ahmed: Thanks for the link… indeed a brilliant goal… also 3-2 score against Japan is not bad at all…:) any idea how long ago was this match played?

there is a news of pakistan getting an english football coach who would select and train a new team of talented players… its about time we get atleast one other sport besides cricket standing on its feet. Hockey, football, tennis.. anything to take the nation away from continued obsession (and frustration) about cricket!!!

having said that, i do believe we have a very good chance of winning the 20/20 world cup… :)… this is probably the best team we could have landed for a 20/20 championship… 7 natural stroke players / pinch hitters in the form of imran nazir, shahid afridi, kamran akmal, salman butt, shoaib malik, mohammad hafeez, younus khan… and 4 brilliant bowlers in mohammad asif, umer gul, rao iftikhar and abdur rehman… seems like its about time we win a world cup again :)

Self – here are my two cents.

“Laj” is izaat or honour in Punjabi (Laja in Sanskirit)and “Paal” is used in the sense of defenders or guardians. The terminology “Lahore Lajpaal” collectively mean defenders of Lahore’s honour.

It is no different t many other similiar Punjabi terms ending with suffix ‘paal’ such as Sukhpaal, sutchpaal or satpaal.
