But he was NOT the team leader…that is the point. He only pretended to be one…as well as pretending to be the only member of the team…proving that Dr Qadeer is a dishonest person. Dr Qadeer was not only dishonest to the Europeans to which he can plead patriotism…he was also dishonest with his own country men…to which he can’t plead patriotism.

Why not? He stole something which Pakistan government was willing to pay dearly for. Simple economics…corrupt yes..but economically beneficial nevertheless.

Dr Qadeer lacked (and still does) originality in terms of scientific research…he has a knack of using other people’s efforts to his own credit. He did it with what he took from Holland and he did it with the efforts of 10,000 or so other scantiests in Pakistan. He tried to get credit for all of their work. If Dr Qadeer were an honest person he would have put things in perspective (like Samar Mubarak did) but instead he tried to claim all credit for himself. Dr Samar is a bigger man for acknowledging everyone’s effort.

Further, Dr Qadeer’s act of stealing had long term adverse effects on Pakistani scientific progress. My brother who worked for CERN (European Nuclear Research Agency) in those days told me this act of Dr Qadeer caused west to suspect every Pakistani scientist working in west thus hindering them from advanced scientific research work.

Finally, those who claim Dr Qadeer saved us from India by providing Nuclear party should consider that India did its first test in 1974, years ahead of Pakistan, but did not use its Nuclear weapon despite opportunity…at the same time all Indo-Pak wars were started (or caused in case of Bangladesh) by Pakistan…nuclear or not.

So my dear fellow Pakistani …. it’s always the team leader that is acknowledged for the services of whole team. And criticized if his/her team fails to achieve goal.

yes there was surly other people involved in selling the secrets, i belive it was the nawa shirif gov. and the military is well. Abdul qadeer khan was just accused by our customers.

like he was over hyped in making the bomb, he got over hyped in selling it off.

It is said about the security at nuclear plants that “you could not take a single pin out without being caught”
and you believe that A.Q. Khan sold nuclear reactors and shipped it out of Pakistan , without our agencies knowing it???

Wake up and smell the gutter !
The only reason for his house arrest is that he would spill the beans about the involvement of Military in the whole scheme!
