Your business reporter

One of the firms that I run somehow manage to keep alive is the business of web design in Lahore.
It is a good business, and I enjoy it, mainly because I have been doing it for so many years, hence I find it - if I say so myself - easy.
And the clients are usually happy. I am in the process of expanding it and God be willing, you guys will be hearing a bit more about this at LMB, as of course, I will be your ‘business reporter’ as well.

I will be carrying out surveys, and I am wondering if you kind folks at LMB - our readership - would want to know anything specific that I can add in my little, casual surveys. (Surveys will be carried out by Reloaded Inc, another firm that does just that, research markets like Lahore.)

Maybe you guys would want to know if these people are training their sales guys? The kind of interactions you have with the ‘business community’ of Lahore, any ‘questions’ regarding that? Of course, any ‘comments’ that you may have may be written as a response to this post. But I am asking if you guys would want any ‘questions’!

Maybe I am asking for too much.

Wish me all the luck, please and pray for me. Merci, JazaakAllah and Thank you! :)

P.S. And what a bloody good cricket match! twenty20 is, by all means, here to stay!

…?

Have you seen the guy with an abnormally enlarged head and a hunchback near Kalma Chowk. Dear God! This is the third time i’ve seen him there and trust me it doesn’t get any better. Just when i had forgotten all about him, out of nowhere he appears right infront of our car at the traffic signal. Aaah! I still recall clearly the very first time i saw him, he truly scared the hell out of me and he still does. My first reaction, to put it bluntly, was ‘Holy shit!’. I thought i had seen a ghost. The stare of those big yellow eyes still haunts me, i’ve never, never been this scared in my life. And trust me i’m Not one of those girls who go, Aaahh! oooh! eeeeh! (no offence to all those who are hehe :) cheer up! ) when they see cockroaches, mice or even a gecko creeping on the wall.

After i saw him which was two or maybe three months back whenever i went past Kalma Chowk i made sure not to look sideways or anywhere other than the road to minimize any chances of catching a glimpse of him again. However in my heart i felt bad for the poor guy. Its not like he choose to be like this, it’s just fate, i guess. But one thing is for sure, this guy shouldn’t be allowed on the streets especailly on busy roads like this because seeing him unexpectingly might trigger the risk of an heart attack or a sudden cardiac arrest. I’m serious.

Maybe the city goveronment should fix some monthly salary for this guy to meet his needs or something like it. Maybe we should collect money for him, maybe. But we need to do something about it, please!

P.S. I coudn’t come up with a title for this one, your suggestions are most welcome. Thank you!

Misbah Cheeta!!!

No matter Pakistan has lost the match but this guy has certainly won for his team, the hearts of all the Pakistanis on the globe. Especially when he refused to take the run and taken a huge responsability on his shoulders. Six, six, six, six, si…….. Man, simply AWESOME!

As how Lahori call it: Maza aagya badshao. Suthree kar kai gaya hai :D

I just loved it.

LMB Ramadan Diary - 11th Roza

Prayer for the Day:

“O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Your favours which You have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may work the righteousness that will please You: And admit me, by Your Grace, to the ranks of your righteous servants.” (The Holy Quran, Surah Al-Naml - 27:19)

Today’s To-do:

Be your own best critic and try mending a habit you don’t like. Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Thought for the Day:

You’re one-third into Ramadan already. That means being one-third closer to realizing your characteristics and potential to be not only a good person, but also a devout Muslim. Just one-third. You still have two-thirds of yourself to discover.

Recipe for the Day: Banana-Nut Bread
(more…)

Today’s Catch: Before Iftar

No time to get down and pick the best out of lot :), a handy approach before Iftar.

LMB Ramadan Diary - 10th Roza

LMB’s Ramadan Diary is a short fun page to make your Roza more enjoyable ;)

Dua of the Day:

‘O, God! Bless our souls with the best of everything” Amen!

Today’s To-Do:

Pay a visit to Edhi Home, SOS Village, Shaukat Khanum Musafir Khana or any other charity organization. Spend some time with those who are less priveleged than us. If you can, do help them financially, or at least emotionally :)

Thought of the Day:

Do not lie, no matter how much difficult is it to avoid. Try avoiding the actions or situations that lead to telling one.

Recipe of the Day: Caesar Sandwich

Ingredients:

Grilled chicken strips (purchased or homemade)
Romaine lettuce
Shredded parmesan cheese
Your favorite Caesar dressing
Your favorite sliced sandwich bread

Instructions:

Toss together desired amounts of chicken strips, romaine and parmesan cheese with enough dressing to coat. Place bread slices under broiler to toast. Spoon salad mixture atop and serve.

Notes: This is a quick and easy twist to a Caesar salad. The toasted bread acts as a crouton–the favorite part of the salad. Adding red onions is a great option.

Number of servings: as desired

A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit, a violin… and Lahore!!!

A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

Nopes… I didn’t say that. Albert Einstein did. But he was practically resonating my thoughts when he said it; the thoughts I would have a few decades later. To me, this is precisely what makes Einstein the most brilliant mind of modern times.

Now how is Einstein related to Lahore? One may rightly question. (adding a loud and clear “Hain Ji?” afterwards to magnify the emphasis, manifolds) Did he ever eat phajjay kay payee, Hain Ji? or shout bo kataaa while flying a kite at the rooftop of Lahore Hotel? No. (that may have been Benjamin Franklin). The truth is, Einstein has nothing to do with Lahore. But I do; which is exactly why I am writing this post at LMB.

Now what do I have to do with Lahore? The answer is very simple. Lahore is where the home is. I don’t think I can explain it any better… oh wait a sec… I could also say, Lahore Lahore aye… but I am sure somebody else has already said that (thousands of years ago, and then every year onwards)

The idea of this post is simply to write my first post at LMB (which I senselessly have) and introduce myself (which I conveniently haven’t). I may be writing more. I may even write too often. Or I may just disappear altogether. The idea is to get it rolling first and see what happens.

Afterall, Einstein also said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new”… I wonder why he said that!!!
