First of all, my wishes go out to everyone who lost innocent loved ones in these indiscriminate suicide attacks. It is such a pointless way to die especially for the young victims who's only fault was their proximity to the blasts. I feel sad for loss of human life whether it is in the heart of Lahore or a Hebrew school in Jerusalem. Life is precious regardless of race, religion, cast or creed - the quicker we transcend these so called divisions, the sooner we will be able to avoid the circle of revenge and death.

Secondly, I tend to agree with Sceptic's view that we must break free of mindless rhetoric and put money where our mouths are. I can appreciate that there's probably not a lot of hope for our nation in the short term due to our shockingly low literacy rate and a general lack of critical thinking. However, I feel we must really strive to close the divisions in our society and really start to view each other as fellow humans. Humanism has a unique ability to transcend all other differences and is the only way that we would be able to generate lasting peace (and mutual respect).

Sceptic: Must admit I agree with your post in principle - but perhaps a little empathy towards the victims and the suffering members of the Lahore community wouldn't have gone amiss. Dare I say, I sensed a hint of anger and arrogance which is precisely the approach we should try to avoid. Moreover, I am an openly agnostic as far as religion is concerned but I fully appreciate that the Pakistani public is by and large moderate yet deeply respectful of Islam. So my suggestion is to tread very carefully (and respectfully) when you seek to engage muslims regarding their religion - probably best not to jump to conclusion and start negating everything.

Stay safe Lahore.

Inna lillahi wa inna lillahi rajioon. My condolence are with the families. I believe our politicians couldn't care any less about these bomb blasts and innocent people dieing. It is the people of Pakistan who need to unite and solve this problem together.

@Murtadking, your an idiot if you actually mean what you said. Maybe I should blame Buddhism or Judaism because you are so ignorant and stupid.

Thank you Murtad, for your kind words. *******
@sceptic: there are no 'clutches of political islam'. And no, i am not going to say 'we are lead to believe etc etc'. there is nothing political about any of this. The people behind this, or behind the WTC plane attacks, or any 'attack' where innocent lives are taken, ALL of those people can NEVER be doing this for the sake of Islam, for a casual leader of The Book will know this. It is common knowledge that 'killing one innocent human being is like killing the whole of humanity, and saving one innocent human being is like saving the whole of humanity.' No sane Muslim ever believes in this nor can believe in this. Period.

Why do we ask rhetorical questions ("when will it end?", "how long will it go on?"...)when even blind Freddie knows how and where the terrorists and religious fanatics are being bred and nurtured? It is a known fact how religious militancy is being promoted but we are simply not ready to accept the fact with open eyes and pen minds.

We can stop this madness by showing the courage to call a spade a spade and openly condemn radical interpretation of Islam. Otherwise, critics will be justified in questioning oft-repeat slogan that Islam is a religion of peace. Self scrutiny of our conduct, rather than blaming everybody in the world, is the way to go if we are serious in rolling back this menace and win back our freedom from the clutches of political Islam.

Good. More people should die before they realize the inherent violence in Islam.
LEAVE ISLAM. THAT IS THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR ALL OF US.
