I tend to disagree with you on some points here. But the word beggars itself is an institutionalized term, meaning that it has more meaning to it than just the literal translation of the word. The menace of beggars that our society faces is not, what you call, Newspaper beggars. Someone selling newspapers is not classified as a beggar. Although he (or she) may ask for money when you don't buy the paper (or anything else that he or she may be selling). I mean, I would call them desperate (for lack of a better word to describe the feeling of sympathy that I think we all should feel towards someone going so , mmm, low). I can ask or insist my friend or parents etc to give or lend me something, technically I am asking for something that ain't mine, but that is not begging. Begging is the first symptom of an unbalanced society. Curing the symptom of course never cures the disease. P.S. the two dudes with the ahem-ahem 'corrective attitude' remind of a few editors that I have had the pleasure of working with, who were quick to point out that I ought to have used F7 and what not.
