Welcome to Mr. Zardari’s Pakistan

Well, against all odds he is here and reality is he is here to stay. He got his votes and it’s time to move on for rest of us. We can humiliate him in our drawing rooms. We can ridicule him on our blogs. we can even do his character assassination if we want. but all this proved a pointless waste of time. Benazir actually gave Pakistan as her last dowry gift to her widower. But I don’t think even she would have ever thought that Mr. Zardari would one day become “President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan”. In fact when I voted for PPP in last election, I never thought that PPP will make such a mockery of the mandate given by people of Pakistan.

People’s mandate is never a “Licence to Kill”. Also the worst form of democracy is always better than best of  all dictatorships. I will take my revenge in next election. What a revenge that will be… When I will come out of polling booth, I will definitely shout Mr. Zardari’s  favorite quote: ” Democracy is best Revenge”

It has been quite some time since I made a good Spartan joke. (Yes! I have nothing better to do!)

This is Zardari's Pakistan

A Participant in a Show after seeing Zardari becoming President

Who will become the President?

I can not agree more with what A for PineApple said in this post about zardari

Allah save te country now … I wonder how many months it’ll take to have the whole country sold .. you think it can be done in Days?

I wonder if he has already struck a deal with americans and he is just here to ensure delivery on time (US Elections)…

That’s all folks at least for today…

Lahore Electric Shortage Company

Yesterday, the Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf said that there would be no unannounced loadshedding across the country during “Sehr” and “Iftar” time, adding that people can contact him on his cell number 0333-5210000 in case of loadshedding during Sehr or Iftar. He failed to mention our options for ‘announced loadshedding’ during Sehr and Iftar, or ‘unannounced loadshedding’ during the remaining 22 hours of the day, but we won’t go there.

I am a big fan of loadshedding and consider it a permanent part of the Lahori lifestyle, but I just HAD to try to call our minister during today’s three hour long unannounced loadshedding spell between 6PM to 9PM (which is Iftar time) in the Cantt area. I tried dialing for 20 minutes but his cell (0333 5210000) was turned off.

All I wanted was an opportunity to thank him for being so approachable and open, and for giving us the unplugged time that we Lahoris desperately need. I also wanted to thank him for turning me into a prolific Realist painter, which is a miracle as I have had no formal training.

Here is my masterpiece from yesterday, called ‘Starless Night in Lahore’:

Lahore at Night

Starless Night in Lahore

and the one I did today – I call this one ‘Lahore by Candlelight’:

Lahore by Candlelight

Lahore by Candlelight

None of these are for sale, sorry! – but you might see them in an exhibition titled ‘Lahore in the 21st Century’ in the near future.

Anyway, besides our beloved Minister (0333 5210000), I also tried

  1. the LESCO “Electric Supply Failure Contact” 042 9220425
  2. the SDO’s number 0321 4951542 and
  3. the cell number 0321 4951540 for the “XEN” (which is probably the coolest title abbrev. ever).

So I hope that you will write these numbers down and spare some time to call them the next time you experience an ‘unannounced loadshedding’ time. If you manage to get through, please share your experience here. Meanwhile, I’ll be out there, working on my next painting.

Huh?

It’s Ramdhaan.
Mubaarik ho.

And yeah, God bless us all and our country.
Wonder what actual action feels like, no? We as a nation, naah, we as individuals would be totally clueless in the face of action, no?

There was action, yes there was. Long marches, protests and what not. But that is the drama. The center stage. All dramas have a villain and a hero. All villains and all heroes take action. What these dramas don’t show are the people who just sit and watch. Why? Because they make for a very boring subject.

Are you boring? Do you plan to be boring? Stay boring perhaps?
How about some action this time around? Some solid, well-directed effort to change yourself and the ones around you to a better state than now?

But wait, we need someone to tell us what to do, what solid, well-directed effort to undertake. We need a leader, that’s right, a leader.

Ladies & gentlemen, in the red corner, weighing in at fifty million pounds (or was it euros?), the smiling crusader, man of his word, king of the castle, chairman of the party, the one and only, ZarrrDaaaaarreeeeeeeeee.

Go ahead. We deserve nothing else.

P.S. I also hear it’s highly cool to pray in this month. Praying qualifies as action, but only in this month, if you catch my drift.

Sheikh Amir Hassan (SAH) laid to rest

SAH who was found dead in his house in Karachi was laid to rest on August 31 in his native town, Lahore. I personally don’t know much about SAH, but heared he was somewhat of a controversial figure. May Allah rest his soul in peace and forgive all his sins. Amen.

Shape of Things to Come!

All things being equal, A 10 year old can predict the future of our country as well as our City. Its matter of days now that Zardari will be our new president. Our economy will be in greatest depression of all times. Value of Rupee will plunge deeper. Food  and Electricity crisis is gonna get worst.

The trouble in our north and west is going to be more complex day by day. A massive human tragedy is about to unviel itself. 300K Bajaur Refugees were just a trailor. The Movie is about to start fellows. We are about to see a major influx of refugees in our large cities very soon.

Wee will see more of them in our City

We will see more of these in our city soon

I am not being naive nor I am being negative. just stating what will happen if all things kept equal. An I have painted a very optimistic picture above.

The people at helm of affairs are struggling very hard to keep the status qou. Little do they know that when status quo breaks, It takes everything away with it.

I am not sure how we as citizen of Pakistan and Lahore can change how things are.  At times it becomes very depressing. Our Circle of Influence is actually much smaller than we think..

Our circle of influence is much smaller than circle of concern!

Not a good way to start the week, but all things are still equal so.. wtf…! Let’s eat….

Me: What’s in the breakfast?  Aslam!!!!!

Aslam: Naan Chollay!

Me: Naan Chollay Again!!!!??? I hate status qou!!!!

Dad: Shut up and Eat….

Me: :(
