I think we have done enough saluting the martyr’s after every such incident. A nation that needs to progress needs its citizens alive and healthy. We have lived in a state of denial for far too long, blaming others for our ills and being embroiled in non issues. Consciously or unconsciously we have done the bidding of the terrorist organizations, removing those who they wanted removed and restoring those who they wanted restored. Ironically, it’s not the politicians that are running the show but a couple of media personalities who are dictating terms and shaping the psyche of this nation. A psyche cultivated by Zia-ul-Haque and being nurtured by pseudo revolutionaries poisoning the minds of our vulnerable youth and so far successfully furthering their agenda. The target is Punjab as Sindh is hard to infilterate.and, can be dealt with later.

As for outside hands, for long we have cursed America for all our ills and blamed India for any misfortune. But strangely the one country that has caused us the most harm has always been able to escape our wrath. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you Saudi Arabia – The provider of equal amount of funds as US for Afghan Jihaad, the official sponsor of many extreme right Wahabi religious groups, the dumper of thousands of radical elements from its society to ours and the supplier of cheap oil in exchange of our soul. If its not the Saudi Govt supporting a screwed up organization then its private individuals step in to provide generous donations for sustenance.

In yester years we used to have a Mohalla masjid / madressah under the patron ship of the neighbourhood, which was always under construction, being built room by room as contributions trickled in. It may not have been fully finished but, it was a place where we felt safe and the believers could find solace. It was a place where parents could send their kids to learn to recite the Holy Book without the risk of being indoctrinated into some screwed up ideology. Just look around now, you will find dozens of fully built, fully furnished institutions complete with boarding, lodging and even air conditioning. Where did the money came from? Who is controlling them? Whats their agenda? Where the graduates are going? What are they promoting?

Sadly, If this trend continues the Punjab of Sufi’s will be taken over by the Salaafi’s, entrapping the minds of not only the extremely poor but the extremely rich. And we will need another version of the famous poem “Ajj Akhaan Waris Shah Nou”
