‘Heart on sale..’

The motorbike was seen at Icchhra Bazaar (Icchhra Market)a few days back which reads in English as;

“Heart For Sale!

Price Just One Smile..”

So, by considering smile equal to money,I believe, the Lahorites are the most rich people in this regard because they earn this money less but spend more… and the world knows that Lahore is the favorite because of its hospitality and you can also include some other forms of verbal enjoyments {you know.. what I mean! ;)}.

LAHORi 1

A LAHORi passion…?

http://lahore.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/08/DSC01008_filtered-thumb.jpg

It was seen a week ago in front of Gelato Affairs in Gulberg.
It’s really a nice one and actually, it attracted me.

They are lucky to have it because now you have to put a government provided number plate which is alphabets and numbers only; not any name.

Who will guess the cost of this number..?

I guess more than Rs. 250000/- or in words Two Lakh and Fifty Thousand Pakistani Rupees.

Lahoris and “HEAVY” Bike craze

Seems like Lahore is heavily crazed about heavy bikes … heavy not because of whatever reason bikes are called heavy :s but because of the number of people … just few days back I shared this visual of 7 people on a lahore road and now again 6 people are riding this bike … khudaya haal hay koi bhalla – shukar hay kay bilkul hi azadi nahi mil gayii :| !!!

Final Destination -Part 2

Car leasing and financing are the culprits and only cause for increased air/noise pollution and traffic irregularities in our city. More cars, more roads and inevitably, more mechanics.
So readers, what is your first and last choice for a great, friendly mechanic, who really makes you travel from one corner of city to other …just because he is too good.

Any fan can be Royal :)

Glam to Lahore’s Roads

BMW%20Z4%20in%20Lahore1.JPG

It’s not everyday that you find such a shiny Glamorous beauty roaming around Lahore’s busiest roads in the Peak hour.

I don’t know about lahoriites but that’s for the first time I’ve seen a beauty of her kind … and guess what NO Murphy’s Law applied in this case. Yes usually all the aaLa cars or bikes have (God Forbid) kind of people in … in this one the hunk was perfectly well-suited for her … made for each other. BTW, It’s BMW Z4Roadster .

Ciao before the string splits :-)

‘The Contrast’

Ever wondered, what happened to the Lahore Government’s old fire service department…?

After the introduction of the ‘Rescue 1122‘, the emergency service which was introduced in Lahore and then later on to the other five cities of the Punjab Province, most of the people forgot about the old fire service department and even other ambulances including (to some extent) the very old, renowned and dedicated free ambulance service ‘Edhi 115‘.

The old fire service department is alive… even I didn’t know the fact until I saw them in action on Thursday; extinguishing fire in a house in Ahmad Block, New Garden Town.

Many things have changed in the new service (Rescue 1122). The main differences are the access to the service, the efficiency, the equipment, the dedication, the techniques, the experience and a lot more… but there are some similarities like the goals/missions and objectives.

But what about the physical difference…?

See by yourself!

City Traffic Police – Already making a difference

Whenever i visited lahore, the only thing which got to me was the insane driving people do in this city. Everyone wanting to go everywhere.. it just kind of got tiring. Then this time around, after the introduction of the new and improved City Traffic Police, things seemed easier and a lot more under control. Lines being observed, cutting in front was really down and not that many people tried ramming my rickshaw over this time as i made my way to the meeting. All in all, i think its a great idea and really hoping it works out well here.

Oh, and the traffic wardens have such a nice authoritative touch to them as well with their military style uniforms.

2-Stroke or 4-Stroke?

Yesterday, 2 stroke auto rickshaws were on a strike (payya jam) to rally against the govt’s decision on banning from the ‘affluent’ areas of Gulberg and Defence. From what i hear, they’re already banned on Mall Road, and Qinqis cant even travel further from ‘old lahore’. The newer, ‘greener’ four stroke rickshaws are allowed everywhere though.

It was a very tough day as a commuter, since i travel mostly on auto rickshaws here, and couldnt get anywhere that day, and my question is, is the decision valid?

What about the day to day travellor for whom a rickshaw is the only economical means of travelling from one point to another?
