Today is the 23rd of March 2006.

More than a hundred thousand people lost thier lives on and a few days after October 8th, 2005.

A concert is being planned for the Earthquake victims relief in a couple of days. One of oh-so-many. The multinationals and ‘uni-nationals’ are sucking out the last drop of mileage from this catastrophy. The way the previous line is written makes this look so bad, but it is not.

Baba Bulleh Shah is one of the most famous Sufis of all time. When he died the, state refused to have him buried in Kasur (a city which is half an hour?s drive from Lahore) and he was buried outside the premises of the city. Today whole of Kasur city is populated around his Darbar. His kaafis are regularly sung by Artists like Sher Miandad, Abida parveen et al and has been recently popularized by Rabbi Shergill .
From tomorrow(i.e Tuesday )onwards Kaafis of Bulleh Shah along with English translation will be recited on first Tuesday of every month in Alhamra Cultural Complex Hall 2 at six pm.The kaafi sessions are organized by Lahore arts Forum.
Everyone is invited! You can also participate in the sessions by reciting and interpreting kaafis if you?re Punjabi is good enough.

Like Darwaish, I was at the show featuring Indian stars too. Here are some of my key thoughts about it

? Very tight but rather unintelligent security planning
? A hugggggggge crowd.the organisers prepared for about 25000 ppl
? Invitations and tickets didnt matter as many people gate crushed
? Malkoo and another singer just wasted time
? Why dont we get to hear guitaring in Atif Aslam’s live shows?
? Yan Gupta is lovely(whoever she is)
? Bombay Rockers did rock Lahore too
? Too much and too mad crowd drived my crazy too.
? If you can?t beat them join them.After waiting sometime for the crowd standing in front of us to settle down ,I want there and joined them and and danced and screamed like anything.

Bombay Rockers & Atif Aslam rocked lahorees in a musical show last thursday night. The show organized by Warid Telecom at Fortress Stadium also had performances from Malkoo (total waste in my view) and another guy (I forgot his name), and ofcourse Yana Gupta (that Indian dancer was lovely, whoever she is :P). Indian model/actress Katrina Kaif briefly came on stage and then quickly disappeared. Saif Ali Khan didn’t come on stage, atleast I couldn’t see him at all (I guess he was scared of crowd).

The show would have been much more fun if they had better crowd control and security arrangements. A huge crowd (25000+) turned up for the show and was mostly out of control. All those VVIP and VIP passes were of no use at all as there were “Mufta’s” (people with no tickets) all over the place and things were quite miserable for families. Perhaps Qaddafi Stadium was a far better option for such an event.

The most scary part was when, just before the begining of show, hundreds of Mufta’s stormed into the stadium, breaking all the security barriers (it actually looked like a massive offensive scene from an old time war movie, just the people were not on horses and were simply running towards us :D). After that Fakhar e Alam, the host, spent most of his time requesting corwd to settle down and show some mercy :D.

Anyways it was fun overall and everyone really enjoyed performances from Bombay Rockers, Atif Aslam and Yana Gupta.

No one can match Lahorees when it comes to having fun for FREE :D
