This has been pointed out previously and Asma, i think, was quoting someone else when listing the food items required. But I think it is important to realize that there is always a cost associated with collecting, sorting and transporting goods. Sending packets of uncooked food items, like rice, aata, sugar, oil etc may not be a good idea at this point in time. The immediate need is to send medicine, blankets/tents, cooked, unperishable, high energy food, like biscuts, milk, dates. Money is always the best thing to give as it allows NGOs to buy exactly what is needed.

My name is aarzoo and i live in the US …. but i was in karachi for 8 years ..
i have seen the disasters of the earthquake in 3/4 of pakistan ..
i hope all the people who have been died , recieve JANNAH …
for the rest of the people whose interviews i saw on the channel , they are angry and upset
becuase they are not getting any help from the government .. the villages in punjab and azad kashmir are destroyed , people are dead under the dirt and rocks and buildings..
i would request do all the efforts for the people who are alive ..
please do something about it .. there are so many muslims around the world please soo something
i am suggesting the muslims who are alive .. they should go to lahore or sind side .. because they
can die due to no food and water supply .. how would they survive in this time..
please go in public , people are willing to give donations but the thing is that these donations should reach the people …
i would really appreciate if u would take my advise
asalam alekum

Thanks nausheen, i agree here with AK, but still, keep in mind that these things would reach them in 7-10 days time. They’d be needing some basic items to start off.
Arzoo, i agree to you too, we’ve already left homes to help them!!!
Plz keep praying!

Here in the UK, we Pakistanis are watching tv & our hearts are aching at the destruction. Pls let us know what things are required so we can send them from here asap.
a very touching post asma…welcome to the lahore metblog, even though your stay here might be brief. May Allah be with us all.
