Eid this year

Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid on first of Islamic month Shawal (the festivities begin when the first sight of the new moon is seen in the sky) to thank Allah the exalted for His blessings, the help and strength that He gave them throughout the previous month to help them practice self-control. Eid is also a time of forgiveness, forgetting the past grievances, and making amends. Every one who can afford gives Fitrana to the deserving brothers.

The first Eid was celebrated in 624 CE by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with his friends and relatives after the victory of Badar.

Celebrations of Eid in Pakistan this time are muted. Reason: Earthquake
