Bus graffiti is really interesting at times. This one is supposedly displaying an unpublished quotation by the father of our nation.

“Bus tickets should be free for students.”

Since ‘New Khan” (private bus service) boldly declared that the usual 2 Rs. per student for any stop will not hold for their buses, students seem to be losing a lot of pocket money. Appearently, there has been no policy revisions so far and the minumum fare has been raised to Rs 4. the last time I checked. If the government plans to reduce any traffic load on the already bursting roads of Lahore, they better revise the bus fare table or people will be forced to switch to private transport.

K2 and Pakistan’s climbing sale!

I was just putting my new blog online and looking through the WordPress stuff I discovered a fine theme by Michael Heilemann and Chris Davis, called K2. Apart from the elegant theme (preview here), the picture of the Savage Mountain they put up had me jaw-drop for minutes! If you’re on WP, you outta try theme.

There’s a complete website http://www.k2climb.net dedicated to K2 Climbers! And… there’s a climbing sale from Pakistan Government for 2006, for anyone interested in climbing these beautiful mountains; for as low as $6000 per team.

The End

So this is where most of us end up, one way or other.

And yet we walk on this earth as if we own it, I think I know why. Do you? ;)

Gateways to Lahore

The Punjab Archaeology Department (PAD) has prepared a proposal for the conservation of five (out of 12) gates of the Walled City. The five gates proposed to be conserved are Bhaati, Lohari, Delhi, Sheranwala and Kashmiri gates. Originally there were 12 passages to the Walled City, but now only five remain intact. The stage is set!

So it starts all over again and this time it’s about cricket, only. No more jeet lo dil slogans. Did I say only cricket? The first match starts just under two hours at Gaddafi Stadium, I wonder if anyone of you is actually going to watch the match. I’m of the view that Test Cricket is the cricket to watch! Thank God that after some time we’ve all our guns firing; how they fare in the next five days will be a treat to watch. I’m glued to my TV, are you?

Eid Mubarak!

I remember a joke from one of those punjabi theatre plays:

First Character: jaan kinno deni aay?
Second Cahracter: Allah nu
First Character: khal mennu day dain!

I know it’s late but… Happy Eid from all Lahore Metrobloggers! We hope you had a blast!

PS: And if you don’t find a rightful candidate for khal, please donate it to Lahore Metroblog. I reckon after all the hard-work we atleast deserve a khal on Eid!
