Looking at the sun directly during an eclipse can damage the eyes and even cause blindness. However, it is safe to look at the sun when it is completely covered by the moon’s shadow. Astronomers have advised enthusiasts to use solar filters or pinhole cameras to watch the event. Solar filters are available at various planetaria and with astronomers’ groups while a much easier way to watch the eclipse is through a pinhole camera, which can be made at home.

Whats so special about it? Its just the Moon in front of the Sun :P

The other day they were telling on DISCOVERY that as the Moon is slowly drifting away from the Earth since its conceptions billions of years ago, Total Solar Eclipses will be a thing of the past in due time as the Moon viewed from the Earth will be too small to cover the entire Sun.
