Aag; Lag Gayi!

Geo Television Network has launched its third sattelite channel; Aag TV. The regular transmission of Aag started from yesterday Friday September 1, 2006.

Primarily, a channel focused on music & lifestyle, Aag will also cover matters of concern for Pakistani youth and their issues through discussion forums and other related programmes.

Its mostly going to be run on the same pattern as have IM & The Musik been running.

The wonderful idea of GEO Entertainment as GEO’s second initiative was tarnished by Indian soaps being aired on it. Let’s see if GEO has something new to offer this time…

TV is primarily evil. So the idea that somehow it can empower the youth with anything good is not convincing to me. Also how much success are we talking about? GEO exists not to do social services but to mint money. So its not in their interest to see what education these kids will get from such a channel except what the ad revenues will be. Gone are the days when people would sit around TV to watch educational programs.

@Sa’ad: I won’t disagree with your point. This statement by Aag may imply that it wants to provide our youth with the power of expression by promoting their lifestyle and ideas.

the channel started 3 weeks ago in UK, and is still not properly launched and says testing in the corner.

as for the channel, i like the idea and i think it can be a success, as for the statement above made by saad about social services, i will like to remind saad geo is a business, they are not a social service and and businesses aim is always money. thank you.

i think it is just a channel for songs becuz when ever u put it on only songs r coming on. only sometimes it shows youth telling thier live stories on it. the only thing i am wanting to watch is “ishrat baji”. it said that its transmission will start frm 1st september but it still say test ignition something don know when it will start properly.

“Primarily, a channel focused on music & lifestyle, Aag will also cover matters of concern for Pakistani youth and their issues through discussion forums and other related programmes.”

What the hell are all the other crappy channels for then ?

Seem to me they are doing the same thing and this one will be .. yet just one more repetivite shit on all the day with stupid VJs who talk out of thier ass all the time and same crappy videos and other shows which discuss junk, fashion, gossip and programs which discuss non-issues as if they are a very important social reform activity !!
