Wait for it…wait…wait…

Waiting for Eid ofcourse! Turns out that in Lahore, and most other parts of the nation we will celebrating Chand Raat tonight instead of last night.

Sure it was a bit of damper, considering when the Moon Sighting Committee announced the date everyone in my household had one foot out the door to grab some mehndi-bangle fun at the local festive market. No harm done though. We get another day to fast, meditate, and appreciate the spirit of Ramzan!

I’d like to point out ‘Gol Market’ Y-block as potential mehndi application-bangle buying venue in the D.H.A. part of town. I have seen them setting up stalls daily for a couple of days now, and know from experience that its a safe and joyful atmosphere for Eid-goers & families.

Wishing our readers a fantastic Chand Raat (the eve of Eid)!

It’s sad that our fellows in NWFP and Northern Areas missed a valid roza!

:D Man what a surprise to wake up to. We’re on day 2 of eid and u guys are still in roza. So whats it going to be, day after eid u’ll have to go to work? Its about time we kick these so called committees out and establish a unified system. We can do without 3 eids in one week.

What’s the problem with accepting a unified decision of a central Committee that comprises of ulemaa from all makaatib-e-fitr…

Interestingly, throughout the year there comes no objection to announcement of Islamic months by the same committee. It’s only Ramazan and Eid when these differences are created by a selected few…

I say abolish the halal chand committee and distribute the money wasted on this to other causes like charity or disaster funds.
