Fresh Catch of the Day…

MrCod_MSARd_Lahore.jpgMr. Cod of UK fame is opening soon in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad simultaneously. In the first phase, they plan on opening three branches in Lahore – one each in DHA, Iqbal Town and Faisal Town (pictured right) with more planned for Gulberg, Wapda Town, Thokar Niaz Baig, Shimla Hill and Badami Bagh later on. The tentative opening date is 1st of April but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t – they’ve already delayed the opening by few months at least twice! So if you’re a fish ‘n chips fan (like me) then start hoping it opens soon!

Fresh catch of the day? – I highly doubt their claim but am waiting for its opening anxiously nonetheless!

“Fresh catch of the day” in Lahore and Karachi is understandable, but in Islamabad?? Hmmm..

In Islamabad the catch is ‘you’ the punter…:P

Haven’t heard of it in UK (at least in London) but then there are millions of names and may be its one of the smaller ones.

Yeah, no one in England has ever heard about it, I don’t know about Scotland though ;)

Just think, will it be in demand during the extra-long Pakistani summers when fish consumption drastically reduces…

I wonder who needs Mr. Cod while Bashir Darul Mahi is right there in Lahore. Beleive me, I would travel to Pakistan even if only to have Bashir’s fish.

I think, Sardar di macchhi is better than Bashir Dar-ul-Mahi’s… What do ya say?

Not at all dear. Though usually it s just a matter of personal preferences. But the sheer quality of Bashir is better, you dont get even a small portion which is less than perfect, while at Sardar you do. Also if you want to know what people have spoken in this regard, go to Mazang chongi, where all of them have outlets. While sardar seems to be waiting for costumer, at Bashir you will see a very large que , with people holding tokens for their turns. And many a times it takes around an hour for your turn, but still people wait. And the que line is realy realy long, for the first impression on seeing it ” whats going on over there?”

( As a side note, Bashir may be the only place in the whole Pakistan where principle of que , equivalnce of rich and poor, aik hi ho gaye mahmood-o-ijaz , is strictly followed. He has even been opened fire upon for refusing to give machi to some high ups ahead of their turn, but he is very strict in this regard and never lets in.
