Pakistanis doing well at the World Cup ’07

Our cricket team might be down ‘n out but there are two Pakistanis at the ongoing Cricket World Cup that are making us all proud! Asad Rauf and Aleem Dar are the unsung heroes that haven’t been given their due respect! At least, I haven’t come across any praise from the media or any announcement from the government to honor them!

Not very long ago, Pakistani umpires were looked down upon – Remember Javed Iqbal of Ashes fame? But these two have done exceptionally well at the international level and it’s high-time we recognize their achievements! The least the government could’ve done was to confer ‘Tamgha-e-Husn-e-Karkardigi’ on them on Pakistan Day!

For those wondering how this is related to Lahore, well… one of them is a Lahori while they both have represented Lahore in domestic cricket! Is that a good enough reason? :)

You can have a look at their detailed profile at CricInfo:

Wow! That is an excellent angle and ‘about time’ that someone found a ‘diamond in the rough’. Truly, great reporting! (Y)
    God bless.

Yes I agree that their contribution towards building Pakistan’s reputation in the game of cricket should be recognized and publically rewarded….
