Avoiding Kiss of a Mosquito…

No one can avoid the buzz of machhars (mosquitoes) these days. Blame it on the upcoming humid season; the stagnant water puddles; or the uncovered sewage nallahs, they are here and are hitting hard.

Mosquitoes are dangerous, cause deadly diseases like Malaria, Dengue Fever and other harmful infections. In the past, whole civilizations have been destroyed by epidemics blamed on mosquitoes.

Here are a few tips on how to live through this season unscathed and untouched by mosquitoes:

1. Mospel Lagao: A simple Insect-Repellent Lotion application to your hands, arms and feet can be very helpful. As they claim;

‘Machhar Aap Say Dur, Rehnay Pay Majboor’
(Keeps the Mosquitoes Away from You)

2. Coil Smoke: Effective especially for open areas including grounds, party & wedding function venues. Coil Smoke, however, only repels and not kills the enemy.

3. Mat Treatment: Our lovely Matt Machine that needs to be reloaded with a new bar of matt every night.

4. Vapourize Death: More effective and long-lasting than the coils and mat solutions, Liquid Vaporizers are readily available in the market. Refills are easy to install and are quite affordable.

5. Shock Therapy: We just ended up adding two more Electric-Shock Killer units to the already existing squadron of two at home. They are effective, fatal attraction for mosquitoes and also end up eliminating lots of flies, parwanas and flying insects in addition to the basic mosquitoes.

6. Tennis Electric Shots: This Electric Tennis Racket may look like a funny object, but it is a cool tool of keeping both flies and mosquitoes away. Also easily available in the market, can easily be recharged and is easily to carry anywhere.

7. Call 111-123-400: There are several companies that provide the service of Anti-Insect Sprays in and around your house/office.

FMC‘s ‘No More Bugs’ service is an excellent way of rooting the danger out of your home. To call the ‘No More Bugs’ APV, dial their UAN: 111-123-400.

8. Scotch the Bite: Even after following the above-mentioned precautions, you end up with a mosquito bite, here’s a cool tip for you:

    yaay for mats. loved playing with them. i was amazed at the way technology has progressed…namely that zapper. khala had one…every once in a while it would go ZAP.

    question…how many carry that racket?

    As for the Racket, most of these are found in homes. However, as they can be recharged/refilled with batteries, you can carry them even on short outdoor trips and picnics…

    There is an awesome new mosquito repellent available in Karachi called ‘MozPatch’ (see web link). It is supposed to be the safest repellent out there (especially for babies and children) and the most convenient (you can put on the ‘patch’ and go anywhere with it). I have tried it and it works great. I hope someone makes it available in Lahore as well!
