I’m eagerly waiting for him in Islamabad. I met him way back in 90’s … He will be leading in Juma prayer in Faisal Masjid on 1st June.

I don’t know why it is an honour. What he has done, what r his accomplishments?

He is handpicked by a self-appointed king and his cronies, so that the iman can sign his praiuses all time.

    The imama is an asshole

It is not for the person but for his voice that we associate with the Holy Ka’aba.

I don’t know whoever appoints the Imam-e-Ka’aba; I only respect him because it is spiritually a fulfilling experience when I hear Talawat-e-Quran in his voice…

Muslims will be better off if they decouple Islam from Arabs. If Arabs do anything worthy – they get the rewards but when they act foolish all Muslims get the blame.
There was a time when zakat was collected in the subcontinent to feed these guys – now they act as masters.. Arrogants at best. I feel sorry for the fellow simple Pakistanis who think of these corrupt guys as modern day representative of Allah on earth.

    @Alam: partially agree with ya.

@Sheikh Ibn E Iqbal Ansari: dude, you gotta turn off that effing CAPS lock, and also get off the religious opium.

in my, very personal of course, opinion, what we’re seeing here is the same mistake chirstianity did back in midieval ages when they introduced the concept of “the pope” and as a result the figures in christianity are like celebrities. The same thing is happening in islam, there is no need to promote certain figures as-if they were important, there are no hierarchies in islam and the imam-e-kaaba is just an ordinary man with no outstanding academic brilliance, licking his feet is only going to make yourself lower.

    Brothers and Sisters in Islam
OK – firstly the Imams are not chosen by the King in Saudi Arabia. The Imams are chosen because of their Knowledge in Reciting the Quran, their skill in Reciting the Quran their knowledge of Islam and their knowledge/skill of Making Dua.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais is not a randomly picked person who is a tool of the King.
A Short Bio of Sheikh Abdul Rahman AL-Sudais:
He was born in Riyadh in 1961
His father enrolled him to become a Hafiz in a Mosque in Riyadh
He was thought the Quran by many Sheikhs; Including Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Majid Zakir and Sheikh Muhammad Ali Hassan.
At the Age of 12 he completed his Hafiz Studies
He grew up in Riyadh and attended the Al-Mathna Bin Hartha elementary school and also the Scientific academy of Riyadh
He graduated from the Scientific academy with a Certificate of Excellence
He later became Imam and Katheeb in a mosque in Riyadh – the Mosque is called Masjid al Sheikh Al Allama Abdur Razzak Al Afifi
At the same time he then started teaching in the Academy of Imam Al Dawa Al Almy
He was also appointed the Imam and Khateeb of Masjidal Haram in Mecca Mukarrama
He started his Imamat in Mecca on the 22/08/1404 (Hijra) leading the Asr salat, and his first Khutba to the people was on the 15/09/1404 which was in ramadhan.

Inviting a Sheikh to your country is not licking their feet
Alhumdolillah Inshallah Allah (swt) will take all of us to Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and give us tawfeeq to read behind this Imam and his Partner Shaikh Shuraim
Both of which recite the Quran Beautifully – Both of which make Awe Inspiring Dua’s- inshallah Both of them will gain a place in Paradise.

If you think he is some random person who doesn’t know anything watch these three parts of one video
You will see how much knowledge Allah has blessed him with:
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=-sGhrL9FdX8
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=VvW-qq1YpbI&mode=related&search=
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=vP2nnRqwbDY&mode=related&search=

How many of us – when we stand in front of Allah forget what it was we wanted to say? How many of us are able to cry in our Dua’s? How many of us are able to make millions of people cry with one single Dua? How many of us can move the heart with what we say in our Duas?

Oh Allah you are the all knowing, the all seeing, the all hearing, Ya Allah you are the most merciful, Ya Allah forgive us our sins and grant us a place in Jannah, Ya Allah please distance us from the Hell Fire. Ya Allah we are an ungrateful people, Ya Allah teach us to love the Quran, Ya Allah plant in our Hearts love for Muhammad (PBUH) the Greatest of Creation, the Seal of the Prophets. Ya Allah plant in our Hearts the Love for you, Ya Allah let the love of you grow and spread trough us, Ya Allah please make us capable of Glorifying you with every breath.
Ya Allah we beseech you with our hearts full of Shame (of our sins) Ya Allah please shower us with your mercy. Ya Allah you are the most merciful, forgive us our sins.
Ya Allah make us of the Righteous; Ya Allah make us of the successful. Ya Allah make us of the dwellers of Paradise.
Ya Allah please forgive the sins of our Parents and those before us. Ya Allah grant them a place in Paradise. Ya Allah please make us pleasing to You and to our Parents, Ya Allah please make us capable of living by the Sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH)
Ya Allah bless us all with Knowledge. Ya Allah make us of those whom you love. Ya Allah you are the most merciful, the all mighty the wise. Ya Allah you are the just, Ya Allah you are the companionate, Ya Allah you are the generous. Ya Allah you are the Creator, Ya Allah you are the Sustainer Ya Allah you are the Owner. Ya Allah you are our Lord make us grateful Servants.

    Ameen

@Khurram: A nice and comprehensive explanantion. :) Thanks for that!

Khurram: We go to Masjid Al Haram to perform Hajj or Umrah, to follow the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Being able to read behind this imam or that imam is not the driving factor that takes us to those holy places.

Even if an imam is very good at reciting dua, he is just another fellow human being. Allah has given all of us the privilige to ask him directly what we seek. We just need to be sincere in our own heart. There is no concept of pope in Islam.

Otherwise i have no issues in Al-Shaikh Abdur Rahman Al-Sudais visiting our country. He is a respectable man. He must be given good protocole for what he is. He must be respected. But please do not make “praying behind this imam” into such a huge privilege. We pray for Allah and Allah alone. And i dont think an imam can in any way increase the “sawab” or “effect” of a prayer for us. We have a direct link with Allah.

Hasan, lovely post title and yes i agree with you 1000% person, it’s really Lahor’s honour that after Qari Basit, Shaikh Sudais is in lahore and then will be in Islamabad. I don’t kniow why will he not be in Karachi:/

@Alam: though your rant don’t hold merit to be responded but did you ask yourself what haev you achieved in your life? just look at yourself with honesty, you will find not a moment to look on others. People like will not even hesitate to say something like, “What Allah has done? He created the world, thts it,not a big thing” (Godforbid).

I also have made posts on my blog[link given]. I would be interested to know details like # of people attended Maghrib salat or just give me figure of Badshahi Masjid Capacity.

  12. d0ct0r (unregistered) on May 31st, 2007 @ 3:12 pm

@Ali i totally agree with what you’ve said..

Shaikh Sudais obtained his masters in Islamic fundamentals from the Sharia College of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in 1987 and received his PhD in Islamic Sharia from Umm al-Qura University in 1995 while working there as an assistant professor after serving at Riyadh University.

@adnan Badshi Masjid was filled beyond capacity and adjoining park was also used by namaziz(worshipers)

With all due respects, whenever our rulers get into trouble they invite a clown or two to fool the people. The latest circus by this visit is no different. Have we heard anything substantail in his sermons? Hardly!
Now here is another laughing stock from AlAzhar. My friend from Egypt tells me that it is talk of the town and everyone is joking about it. Not to mention the mud slinging on Islam by right wing anti-Muslim sites… Check this link out:

This is nothing but a drama by the Chaudries to dupe the simple people on Pakistan in the name of religion. For God’s sake people wake up! the Arabs are not Gods. In fact they don’t even spit on us Pakistanis. It was laughable to see the Imam saying the dua in Arabic, and all the Govt chors standing behind him with pious looks on their manhoos faces… as if they understood every word! Another drama in the name of religion.

  16. Opee (unregistered) on May 31st, 2007 @ 11:36 pm

One can understand some of the words by paying a little attention to the words being recited in Dua. It was expected and natural for him to say dua in Arabic. What did you think, would he be saying dua in English? (huh?). I hope you also had paid some attention to the words or ask your elders (who have read arabic language course in their school going age) and ask for forgiveness for yourself and others around you too.

One thing is for sure that we cannot attribute arabs to near God. Not even closer but YES, you cannot (I repeat, CANNOT) doubt or give the judgement about a person’s internal beliefs practices without a valid proof. Its not just religiously but also socially tolerable by any means whatsoever.

    Cheers ‘n’ Peace ~ Opee.

The cat is out of the bag… I just read Imam’s statement on Jang.com… He has advised Pakistanis to support their leadership as the Ummah is going through hard times… Mush/Aziz had to import this guy to bribe the nation with a dua.
Let us wait and see which of the famous clergy is next to visit Pakistan to solicit support for the top brass…

@Doctor bhai, I know it was filled but I don’t know capacity of Badshahi Masjid. Long time back someone told me that compound of Masjid where people performed Maghrib have capacity of 1 lakh? is it true?

The era we have been going thru, it would be nice that Shaikh Sudais(DB) and othe Imams of Ka’aba and Masjid Nabvi and other masjids of world visit Pakistan. Pakistan is the state which was prophesized by the Prophet(SAW) long time back and despite of all attempts by non-muslims and so called muslims aka liberals, Pakistan still have importance in Islamic world regarding tableegh around the world. May Allah save this state from enemy of Islam-Ameen.

the Govt chors standing behind him with pious looks on their manhoos faces

@nuzhat: do you want to say you got some exceptional face? Who knows you might be remembered by same words by people in your surrounding? they would be chor, Idon’t disagree but face is made by God, do learn to appreciate what God has created even if it’s not like by YOU.

It was laughable to see the Imam saying the dua in Arabic as if they understood every word! Another drama in the name of religion.

so do you want to say that people of your family and other Pakistanis/muslims around the world understand every bit of what they offer daily? I wonder do you even know the meaning of Surah fatiha, the first surah and all six Kalimas? As I advised to Alam that just look at yourself, you can;t give such sissy excuses while you’ll be in your Qabar.

One thing is for sure that we cannot attribute arabs to near God. Not even closer but YES,

100% agreed, even when the Prophet(saw) said himself that Arabs are not superior than non-arabs(Ajmis) or vice versa. Taqwa is the main key rather culture, race or language but do think once that Arabs were chosen by Allah and Quran was revealed in Arabic. Angels will question in arabic rather some other language. ARabic will be the language of Paradise and at Judgement day and if one does a little research then he would realize why ARabic was given so much importance by Allah and why did he choose that language which is richer than any other language. So atleast we can respect Allah’s decision of selectiing Arabics by keeping their feelings about pakistanis aside. Muslims are not responsible to Arabs, they are responsible to Allah who chose ARabs and Arabic His favorite language.

Speaking of Sudais, I posted a youtube link of one of his recitation. Do notice the english translation ,specially the ayah of SUrah Taha where he starts weeping, that is the ayah where Allah says to non-believers and so called muslims like us that since we forgot Allah in world, God would forget at the day of Qayamah. This is something even made shivered a sinner like me. So if you guys think you are more wise than right wing mullahs then use your brain and think about yourself first. A wise business thinks about security of his business first rather raising finger on others businesses.

Actually Adnan, I say my namaz in Urdu. Do you have a problem with that?
And by the way, the faces of Ch. Shujhat and co. ARE manhoos because of what they have done to this country. They are chors and usurpers. You need to cool down a little, and learn to think with your head..rather than go into overheated mode everytime religion is mentioned. Relax!

  24. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 11:08 am

@Nuzhat: mujhe kia bhai , meri taraf se tum namaz he na parho. You’re not answerable to me neither I am your god :-) But all I knwo that Namaz is only in arabic and these are just excuses(read BIDAAT) to say namaz in regional languages. It’s not hard to learn the meaning of things we read in namaz in urdu.

    They are chors and usurpers

whole nation is chor and beyimaa. Noone can claim he’s 100% honest and true including you and me.

overheated mode everytime religion is mentioned.

Kid, i am all calm down, people like you and your brothers/friends like alam and others acted like spoilt brat and tried to pollute the thread by coming up with unecessary and immature accusations on Shaikh Sudais though i know you guys have not even read about him. I know when people didn’t forgive prophets then what’s worth of Sudais? :-)

Those, who was accusing Policians and than shaikh himself, just look at this picture. all these thousands of people are “Chamcha” of Chaudharies or part of policial cum relgious gimmick by Chudharies? or your mighty wisdom says that they are all workers?

you may doubt on corrupt chudaries but can’t doubt on the love and passion demonstrated by lahories for Imam of Ka’aba. Learn to admit and accept others. It wouldn’t harm you at all.
