Ye Dhuan Saa Kahan Sai Uthta Hai

Escaping from pollution/heat and going to some hill station especially during summer is one of the greatest opportunities one should avail. There we can feel the difference between the serenity and tranquility of green surroundings and an AC-loaded room. City life is totally different I think we are too much used to of living in unhealthy environment now with less and less greenery around us. Can we turn Lahore into a city with 0% pollution?

@Doc: Lots of things include in “supposed to be” ,eenee mushklaan naal tai chaalee saal purani vaignaa kaddi nai.

@a4pie n apple: Why not? Why impossible is in our dictionary?

@HM: Yeah, Its not only Rikshaws that are responsible for pollution.

Yes we can. And it will all start with looking at our ownselves. If everyone reading this comment just look around and see the things and stuff in their everyday-lives are adding pollution to the city, just get it fixed or sorted. Thats it.

Don’t push or say to others, just do what only ‘you’ can do and lead others by example.

Speaking of Rikshaws, Kaptaan sb, I saw a rickshaw in Toronto (Gerrard street) last weekend :) I really wished I had a camera with me. If soon I get a chance to visit again, I’ll surely take a picture of it so you can share it among friends @ LMB.

And speaking of Pollution. Another thing I want to share (but I’m sure most of you people already know it). In mississauga only 2 bag per household is allowed ‘per week’. Otherwise, trash management guys won’t pick it with them and u would have to take care of it yourself.

And in recent news, we have heard that they are introducing a box of specific size and measurement which they will give it to every household of the city. If someone needs to dump more than the usual size (which is fairly small), they would have to pay ‘EXTRA’ money for it. :) So, the more you trash, the more you pay. :) How simple. So thats how people here take care and restrict the trash they produce. Just thought to share. Cheers,

    Opee

Linking to the next post, i think this bus should be named “bhootar shah”

  8. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 2:08 am

@faraz: But it looks like “chal pagli” type bus.

  9. Faraz (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 2:25 am

:))) absolutely agree… good thing is that atleast its not a “gawachi gaa’n” type bus :)

  10. Opee (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 2:29 am

Yani keh aap nay Bhootar shah ki pagli dulhan bhi dhoond li…

    Papa Truck
    Mama Bus
    Baby Rickshaw…

I think our LMB writers can write a story on all this important discussion we all are having here. :)

But yeh atif aslam pagli ka kya hai ?! *wink*.. ;)

  11. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 2:30 am

@faraz: Now its a bit complicated. We can recognize a “chal pagli” type bus from the back, but…for a “gawachi gaa’n” we have to have a look at the face of the bus. thanks God you did not mentioned it as “phir milain gain” type bus, coz yeh roz milti hay :D

@Opee: By rickshaw in Toronto, you mean like the ones we have here or of some mini-cars type?? :)

  13. Faraz (unregistered) on June 1st, 2007 @ 10:16 pm

@Pretty Simple: Agar yeh roz milti hay to iss nay zaroor woh kahawat nahin suni ho gi keh “qadar kho deta hai roz ka aana jaana”… somebody should tell her.

On a different note, everyone, i will be in Lahore this weekend. Could you advise any exciting event/place/thing happening tomorrow or day after that i shouldn’t miss? any theatre production, movie (main phir lot kay aaun ga” type :), fiLUMS??, anything?

@pretty simple and Opee: why can’t we … hmm coz meri marzi … :P

But looking at the people around you and amongst us – correcting a drastic thing to cent percent level is in reality almost impossible. At least, I’m not seeing Pakistan (though I hope) in a all clear state not in next 30 years at least :|

  15. Opee (unregistered) on June 2nd, 2007 @ 12:49 am

@AFPA: True, it ain’t easy…. But continuous effort and awareness should be there. At least by oneself. If ‘you’ wanna do it, everyone gonna do it, someday!

How did they declare it as fit for the Canadian roads expecially for its immense pollution creating tendencies? :|

  18. Opee (unregistered) on June 2nd, 2007 @ 2:05 am

uff.. its just standing outside a lahori shop.. As far as I’ve heard (whether true or not), the owner of the shop has imported the rickshaw from Pakistan on a special request made to the Government of Canada and Pakistan. The street on which its located is called Gerrard Street which is also known as Mini Lahore of Canada. :) Where you can also find Dahi Bhallay, bhel poori, paani puri, chaat, paan, even Steel kay Bartan :)

  19. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 2nd, 2007 @ 2:10 am

@Opee—even Steel kay Bartan :) : Acha tu STEAL k bartan Udher jatay hain :p
