Do SENSO

SENSO Café + Espresso Bar inaugurated a couple of weeks ago, off of M.M. Alam Road, near Ghalib Market. Its Shawn’s brainchild, who is ex-owner of Jemm N’ Java. As compared to other cafés, its pretty spacious and ambience is great, if you are fond of quiet corners you would love to be there. It’s a two-story café, downstairs they have their Espresso Bar café sort of presentation. Upstairs, they got the dining hall, you can see it in the picture. Interior is sophisticated and soothing, no bright-color treatment to make you feel jazzy.

People, who like to read when they take coffee, would love this spot, again, as they have a tasteful collection of magazines. They have Pizzas specially baked in marbled ovens, so the crusts will not get soggy, Shawn stated proudly. Menu varies from oven-baked sandwiches to Italian cuisine. Desserts are quite unusual, overall selection of menu items is catchy.

Hay, can anyone guess what SENSO means?

My limited knowledge says: Senso means ‘Sense’ in Italian. Or Wisdom. ‘Do Senso’ could be ‘I give wisdom’. Or could be ‘I provide wisdom’ or spread or present wisdom.. :) Senso means the same in Portuguese as well.

… and by the way, is it Do Senso? or just Senso. Cuz Do Senso may be a confusing sentence.. :) lol. Well if its Senso only then this means ‘Wisdom’ or ‘Sense’ for sure!

Thanx. Do is taken as a literal here. Verb…. means go and enjoy at SENSO. Just like Do Dew …if you drink Dew. Creative log hain, aisay qalabay milatai rahtai hain.

I will ask Shawn some day why he used all caps in SENSO. Its just “SENSO”.

  8. Opee (unregistered) on June 13th, 2007 @ 10:02 pm

.. so it could be WISDOM, all caps!! :) Do let us know what he says.

O goodie ! was this a coincidence or what ! I found Shan’s cafe here. Cool! – I loved Jammin Java in its early years as it had the BEST coffee – but sadly not now … I asked them guys over there “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED ?” and they replied that their “ITALIAN” machine was broken so they couldn’t brew better coffee …. broken for like more than a year now. But sadly again, JJ has lost its touch with coffee (since Shan left). OOO I’m so excited! im gonna pay a visit here today ! may be i’ll find the brew i am longing for so long. But i’d be honest, after JJ the best coffee I ever tasted was from COSTA at ZumZama Defence KHI – IT ROCKED ! but still no match for the blends JJ introduced when it was at Kalma Chowk. THANKS A MILLION FOR THIS madamme Pretty Simple

aw man ! :( I couldn’t find it. May be I was in a hurry thats why, but I was trying to look for it on the road that connects Hussain Chowk with Firdos Market. The one where the new Mercedez showroom opened just besides BeeHive. Any specific instructions?
P.S. Sometimes I can overlook the most colossal things :P

@SAY: And its near Ghalib market. I hope you will make it to SENSO this weekend. Again, its on the road where Kaps is located, where Pizza Hutt is on the corner.

  15. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 17th, 2007 @ 12:47 am

I figured out I mistakenly wrote Firdous, where i ment Ghalib :) . Ghalib ke kia he baat hai, reminds of mangoes and khootooss at this moment :D

Got there finally! – I had to call up the guy :P to ask him. And this was before you replied to my comment “PRETTY SIMPLE” :-) and WOW ! EXCELLENT coffee and EXCELLENT PIZZAS ! – cooool ! finally there is a good coffee place in Lahore now. I was a bit depressed to be honest when I had coffee from COSTA in KHI that we folks dont have no good coffee here in LHR but now BYE BYE depression and HELLOOO SENSO ! – o ! by the way, Shan was laughing when reading through this post on me cell …. SENSO means “sensibility” including all senses, if you ask me I’d say aesthetic sense above all when you experience the place.

  25. Pretty Simple (unregistered) on June 21st, 2007 @ 6:10 pm

:) Best part is that you enjoyed it thoroughly!
