Why not?

Lahore does not have a website.
No, wait, it does.

www.lahore.gov.pk

It can be improved. That is not the point.

We have one. Do we know about it? How many of us have actually used the website?
Why not?
I am planning on contacting the EDO for Enterprise & Investment Promotion to see if perhaps he can get me some web design or large, neat print orders. That’s what he is there for, right? Maybe yes, maybe not. But I won’t find out until I get in touch with him.

I say the website can be improved because I dont know who the current EDO is and how the heck do I contact him (or her!). Besides, even if they had the information on the website, the website was last updated in 2002.

But the website is large. One can use it. One can learn from it. One can take part in Lahore’s activity by using the information presented in it.

Why not?

Please don’t criticize our city’s website, it must be the result of a few million Rs. of development (like most of their other IT projects).

If you do a ‘view source’, you can see:

Website Designed and Developed at Tower Technologies by http://www.ArfanKhan.com/professional

While you’re at it, also note an
alt=”State of Connecticut Portal Site” for the top banner image that the author forgot to take out.

Thanks to my speedy ISP, the alt appears for a few secs before each image loads.

    Here’s the source of “inspiration”
    http://www.ct.gov/ctportal/site/default.asp

    So there you go.

I’m very interested in any progress you make on this.

    hahahaha, dude, you nailed it.
Developer of Lahore website: Tower Technologies
Mayor of Lahore city: Mian Amer Mahmood.
Owner of Tower Technologies: Mian Amer Mahmood.

I wonder if companies like mine that are small and not that ‘proactive’ ever get a decent chance at making government websites where hundreds and thousands of Jinnahs flow!
    Hmph!

And again, ReallyVirtual, you nailed it friend, you just nailed it!

Yes i have seen this official website of lahore, as invariably each lunch break i type lahore and eneter search in google.
in the begining i liked their site but later realized it being a publicity stunt of mian amir mehmood.Never liked this august joker for his pink suits and the uncanny airs.
Downloadable forms are a good thing on the site though.

Govt Websites improved ! yeh right, i had a chance to work for a Govt Sit and trust me you don’t want to get in the mess, first thing they are outsourced to the relatives of Govt. officers at the cost of around 1-3 lack Rs, which then gets outsourced to us at quarter the price and then designing them is like pulling your hairs and screaming “Why Did i pick this project” as they have to be approved by Govt Officers who themselves have never seen any site and have no idea how the site should be ! They want pictures of there boss on the main page that should be more prominent then information !…. i can write pages on this issue so to cut it short ! just like all the dept of Govt. this is yet another ciaos !

But still if things can be improved we all will welcome it !
