Trouble that it’s going to be..

Q: How much time does it take to travel between FC College underpass to New Campus?
A: 45 mins!

Starting from Zahoor Elahi Road to Jinnah Hospital, the whole canal bank was through a massive traffic jam this evening, thanks to construction of the new Muslim Town-Garden Town underpass.

Traffic wardens had blocked the Ferozpur Road underpass, you could not turn from Ferozpur Road towards the canal, while no traffic was being allowed to cross the bridge too. Also was in effect a similar blockade at the Jinnah Hospital underpass on traffic coming from Thokar Niaz Baig and the congestion was being routed through Garden Town, Main Boulevard.

Long queues could be seen everywhere as Ferozpur Road – Kalma Chowk, Jinnah Hospital – Main Boulevard, Thokar Niaz Baig – New Campus, FC College – Ferozpur Road portions all were totally choked.

Remedy: Crawl with hundreds of stranded vehicles through the residential blocks of Garden Town with everything moving at a snail’s pace. The alternative route is too narrow to accomodate the extensive traffic load carried by the canal.

Similarly, the whole brunt is going to be bore by Main Boulevard which will have to carry everything from Hinos to Qingqis coming in or going out of the city, heading towards Thokar.

Ok, it’s understandable for us to consider it as ‘suffer-today, benefit-tomorrow’ while the new underpass is under-construction. However, the question is;

Was there any real need for constructing an underpass between Garden Town and Muslim Town??

    It will surely benefit Amir Mahmood’s collages? Or if he owns the building the price of his property will go up, Baharia Town Tower on canal and Sheik Zayad center are direct beneficiaries as well

    yeah, seems like it is being constructed to give direct access to Shiekh Zayed Centre from the Canal…
