Is it excessive comfort and leisure in our lives that makes us insensitive towards other’s pains and miseries?

My answer is “yes.”

    i guess No, its the recurrence which makes us more insensitive e.g. Bomb explosion in Baghdad in start was very sad news for every one and every one was talking about it – now ? bomb explodes every day and no one cares. Secondly, it depends on your personality too that either you feel the pain of others in leisure or be selfish. Sensitive people tends to think & feel more about these things even in leisure or comfort.

    Its not only about explosions, its about everything, hunger, shelter, water shortage, poverty, disasters….and yes, Personality type counts.

    It is too much leisure and comforts that make us aloof towards the agonies of others. We are so much accustomed to luxurious life, spacious houses, costly cars, expensive clothes that we tend to lose the sense of sympathy for the hungry kids in our neighborhood
