    Fake Potter books flood markets

    24 July 2007

LAHORE — Thousands of Harry Potter fans have been cheated as fake books carrying the same title as JK Rowling’s last book of the series Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows printed locally by unknown publishers hit the bookstores across Pakistan.

The original book in hardcover is priced at Rs1,595 while the spoiler book is being sold for Rs250 and Rs200.

The sixth Potter book was also hit hard by the piracy in Pakistan. About 7,000 books were imported by the Oxford University Press and Paramount Books at that time. But not all of them were sold, as the pirated version was easily available.

This year 20,000 Potter books have been imported by Liberty Books. But after just one day of sale there is a shortage of books in the market. The pirates take advantage of the situation.

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc., publisher of the Potter series took pre-emptive action and appointed Colonel Faiz Mukhtar of Pakistan Intellectual Property Solutions (Pvt) Ltd., as authorised representative to take action against piracy here.

Mukhtar confirmed that fake books had reached the bookstores.

lol mere leye bhi aik series le lo is se pahle kah milni hi band hojayeen:P
