A picture worth 60 years…

Independence Day of Pakistan 2007: Not just See but also “Feel” how Pakistanis celebrated 14th August 2007, the 60 years of Pakistani Independence.

Ceremonies are taking place across Pakistan as the nation celebrates 60 years since the end of British colonial rule.

This girl with flags painted on her face was among the crowds watching the festivities.

A man wearing a garment with Pakistani colours and the words “Long live Pakistan” raised the flag at the crossing.

Heads of the Pakistani Rangers (L) and Indian Border Security Force shook hands at the Wagah border crossing.

Fireworks lit up the sky around the President’s House in Islamabad at midnight on Monday as the celebrations began.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz hoisted the national flag at a ceremony in the capital, Islamabad.

Mr Aziz told the audience: “Nuclear assets are symbols of our national honour.”

In Karachi, naval cadets marched past the mausoleum of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder.

On the eve of independence, Pakistan sent home 134 Indian prisoners who had crossed the border illegally.

    Zabardast opee. Lahore Metroblog is best……. you ppl r posting so much stuff…. i m enjoying a gr8 deallll… i went to islamabad metroblog and saw some posts there too…… but karachi ppl ko dekhooo zara, rotay hi rehtay hain…… it is considered the big broooo of pakistann.. but when i went there i just said “rondayee rehna saari umer” .. :S

    We were recalling the days when we were kids and used to watch PTV morning transmissions starting from all these above-mentioned ceremonies to the last part of Special Dramas.

    Anyways, best part was the release of prisoners :)
