LMB Ramadan Diary – 15th Roza

Prayer for the Day:

‘(Moses) said: “O my Lord! expand me my breast;
And ease my task for me;
And remove the impediment from my speech,
So they may understand what I say” ‘ Ameen. (Al-Quran, 20:25-28)

Today’s To-do:

Indulge in charity. As mentioned below, there are so many options for us to choose from.

The Prophet Muhammad SAWS said: “Giving in charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun rises.” The people then asked the Prophet: “From what do we give (in) charity if we do not possess property?”

He replied: “There are many doors to goodness. (Saying) ‘glory to Allah,’ ‘praise be to Allah,’ ‘there is no deity but Allah,’ enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf (until you understand them), leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one’s legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of one’s arms – all of these are (forms of) charity prescribed for you.”

Thought for the Day:

A promise: “Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.” Al-Quran, 94:6

Dear Readers, can you recognize this building, its near Kalma Chawk, i guess its the same hospital (i forgot the name as usual) with the story of some doctors (investors?) having business by selling kidneys (illegal!!!) , and also they made some extra floors (which one of LMB reader talked about in Guess Win #21), that are under destruction now a days! (hope you can see the labor at top floor with huge hammers).

Its Sep and that means weather is really good. I found these kids at Canal today, who were avidly swimming like its summertime. Is it roza that made them dive in ??? Wocho guys think?

LMB Ramadan Diary – 14th Roza

Prayer for the Day:

On leaving the house: “I seek refuge in Allah, lest I go astray or be led astray, that I trip or be tripped, that I oppress or be oppressed, or I be ignorant or ignorance be done to me,” Ameen (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

Today’s To-do:

Clean out your closet and set aside all the clothes and shoes you can do without which would benefit another for the harsh winter ahead.

Thought for the Day:

The Prophet SAWS said: “Every Muslim has to give in charity.” The people then asked: “(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?” The Prophet replied: “He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns).” The people further asked: “If he cannot find even that?” He replied: “He should help the needy who appeal for help.” Then the people asked: “If he cannot do (even) that?” The Prophet said finally: “Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds.”

LMB Ramadan Diary – 13th Roza

Prayer for the Day:

After performing ablutions (wudu): “Oh Allah, Make me among those who turn to You in repentance, and make me among those who are purified.” Ameen (Sahih Al Tirmidhi)

Today’s To-do:

Share your iftaari. Pack enough food for two or even a small family if you can manage it, and go out into the streets. You are bound to find homeless and hungry people who would love to have a share from your plate.

Thought for the Day:

Don’t restrict the good that you can do to one month of the year. It’s not about how much you can do keeping your lifestyle in mind, it’s how often you do what you can that marks its significance.

The Amazing world of Not Knowing

A guy holds a spray can at someone else’s face, painting it black.
You see it on TV; black face. Moon kaaala ho gaya, hakoomat ka moon kaala and what not, use your imagination.

But in the Amazing World of Not Knowing, the person who sprayed, who’s face was not splattered with black ink, his face gets to be more black, and more shameful than the person who gets the paint-on-face treatment.

Sad.

A young, just-outta-law-school lawyer doing this would have pushed this incident in the domain of understanding perhaps; you can not justify this act, obviously. But an old bloke that I saw on TV, later being reffered to as a ‘senior’ lawyer!

God guide and protect us all, Aameen!

A Researcher’s Rainy Route-Quaid-E-Azam Library

Four panicked Post-graduate students, One fast-approaching research paper deadline, Trillions of drizzling droplets of rain, and what do you get? A memorable trip down to Lahore’s Quaid-E-Azam Library, situated smack dab in the middle of Bagh-e-Jinnah, in pursuit of Library membership.

LMB Ramadan Diary – 12th Roza

Prayer for the Day:

“O Allah! Let me maintain ties with him who severs these. Let me grant him his due that deprives me of what is due to me. Let me forgive him who wrongs me.” (Mishkat)

Today’s To-do:

Don’t wait for Eid. Surprise a loved one by dropping off a little-something in the form of food, a gift or even balloons (I’m keeping children in mind) to his house.

Thought for the Day:

Let it be. Follow the sunnah of saying you’re fasting in the face of what could be an argument. It’s not worth it, today or any other for that matter.

Your business reporter

One of the firms that I run somehow manage to keep alive is the business of web design in Lahore.
It is a good business, and I enjoy it, mainly because I have been doing it for so many years, hence I find it – if I say so myself – easy.
And the clients are usually happy. I am in the process of expanding it and God be willing, you guys will be hearing a bit more about this at LMB, as of course, I will be your ‘business reporter’ as well.

I will be carrying out surveys, and I am wondering if you kind folks at LMB – our readership – would want to know anything specific that I can add in my little, casual surveys. (Surveys will be carried out by Reloaded Inc, another firm that does just that, research markets like Lahore.)

Maybe you guys would want to know if these people are training their sales guys? The kind of interactions you have with the ‘business community’ of Lahore, any ‘questions’ regarding that? Of course, any ‘comments’ that you may have may be written as a response to this post. But I am asking if you guys would want any ‘questions’!

Maybe I am asking for too much.

Wish me all the luck, please and pray for me. Merci, JazaakAllah and Thank you! :)

P.S. And what a bloody good cricket match! twenty20 is, by all means, here to stay!
