New in town: Punjab Rang Radio (FM 95)

Daily Times reports that Pervez Elahi has inaugurated a dedicated station for Punjabi on Thursday which is broadcasting on FM 95.0 band. Currently it will operate from Lahore and will cover up to 140km radius – including Indian Punjab cities Amritsar, Batyala & Jhalander.

Station would be overlooked by a semi-autonomous authority i.e. Punjab Institute of Language, Art & Culture. FM is an integral part of most of commuters, either in cars, cell phones, home and even internet. After the introduction of much commercial, campus FM stations (i.e. PU, UET, and Lahore College for Women) this would certainly give a variety & promote our Punjab culture even on the other side of the border.

My suggestion to the GOP would be to broadcast this FM station on Internet like many other stations are doing so as they are vital source for Pakistani citizens out of Pakistan to stay in touch with local media.
