Khan’s arrest – the drama at PU, as it unfolded

Imran Khan, as earlier announced by his Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf party, had decided to give his arrest in a student protest rally at University of the Punjab today. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing called the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) had clearly stated that Imran will not be welcome on his arrival at the campus on grounds of avoiding politics in the university, which, for a voilent, unpopular, politically-inspired body like the IJT, is an absurd reason for not allowing Imran’s peace protest rally against the emergency rule.

According to the plan, Imran Khan, arrived at the University’s New Campus at around 12 noon and was immediately surrounded by members of the IJT who pushed him into the university’s Centre for Higher Energy Physics (CHEPS) building. While he was being kept ‘hostage’ in there, Mr. Khan was reportedly tortured and manhandled by the IJT workers and plain-clothed men of the secret agencies. Hundreds of students including the IJT members and Khan’s supporters gathered at the place and exchanged harsh words and fought with each other.

‘Sound Bombs’ were heard repeatedly, intended to disperse or create panic in the crowd of over 400 students as more than two dozens of foreign journalists, local reporters and cameramen covered the events by continuously running around the building to get a better picture of what was happening inside.

Imran was later handled to and arrested by the agencies as the whole event remained largely peaceful with canal road blockade, restricted entry into the area and about 800 policemen depoyed around the campus premises.

there are no clips here, what clips?
There is a nice little round up of what Imran Khan said and what he tried to do.
    He has my vote.
I am not a student per se, but heck, we learn every day, dont we? That makes all of us students!
    Hmmmm….

If Imran Khan himself knew what he is trying to do then he would have my vote too.

The day he went into the lap of Hameed Gul and Qazi, he just became the front man in the broader screwed up Islamic agenda of these two folks.
These two gentlemen are largely responsible for malaise in our society. I hope they never come out.

As for Imran Khan, he should be given a chance of Maafee Talaafee. IK should now make a transition into being part of the solution rather than being part of the problem and make this country move forward, the it was moving eight months back.

What a disgraceful act by the Jamiat. This just proves that Jamiat has been bought by the government and if following musharraf’s orders.
No wonder Jamat islami always looses in elections. With actions like these, no one is likely to vote for them.

Imran Khan would have been OK if he had stayed away from Qazi and Gul.
I guess people learn the hard way, Karachiites also learnt it during the eighties and threw these ideologs out, I guess the same fate awaits them in Lahore, good riddance.

I hope now Imran Khan will become a bit more wiser and work with everyone else to take this country forward, Jamatee’s have a very thick agenda book of which Pakistan is a tiny portion.

Ah, Qazi did too bad with Imran. I already guessed that this is going to happen at PU. Hope he will not blindly go after BB now while doing bayat at the hands of Qazi.

This reminds me of an event. At the peak of Afghan War, several of Ahmed Shah Masood’s Panjsheri commanders were invited by Afghan Jamatee Gulbadin Hekmatyaar to discuss cooperation between the two groups fighting against the Russians.

All of those Panjsheri commanders were murdered in cold blood. Imran Khan is lucky!

This is the utmost show of Gunda Gardhi, popularised in our educational institutes after the ban of Student Unions by the real malice-General Zia. During his tenure IJT students were rewarded heavily due to their role in Afghanistan’s killings. We need to get rid of these Testosterone for the sake of God.

Really I see bigotry written by people below. I mean if BB has done corruption, then nothing is wrong with secularism, but the problem is with BB. But when Goondas of IJT pull a stunt like that, then you guys are pretty quick to pull the legs of the religion (Ideology), I mean why the double standards? And listen to the guy from Karachi “Karachiites also learnt it during the eighties and threw these ideologies out”, and then what, Goondas of MQM took over and are wreaking havoc in that city? The Problem is we all are running with hare and hunting with hounds.

This shows the reality of jameeyat which is nothing but a badmash and gundi group of students, believe me i know. This act shows how shitheaded and mindless puppets they are. Really really shamefull.

Disgusting betrayal by IJT but it’s only to be expected. Imran Khan is clearly the best candidate, the people of Pakistan need to rally around him. Bhutto and Sharif had their chance and failed miserably, its time for someone new.
