Lahore doesn’t have the ‘Better Apple’
Talha Masood from Metroblogging Islamabad reviews two recently opened cinemas, one, Cinepax, in Rawalpindi and the other, DHA Cinema, in Lahore through his experience of watching ‘The Bourne Ultimatum‘ at both places.
Interestingly, apart from the sound quality, he finds the former as better of the two in all aspects :)
:)
*Blush, blush*
Seriously Hasan, Cinepax is quite good.
One reason is Telenor sponsorship. You would know DHA cinema is an “Auditorium by day and Cinema by night” kind of thing. I am not saying that it’s bad, it is nice.
But you know, comparison is a sharp knife!
No offense :).
Thanks a lot for quoting me, really appreciate it!!!
The good thing is that finally we are getting good hardware, i.e. cinemas, in Pakistan. But when would we start to get good software, i.e. movies, to watch in them?
just one decent movie, i.e. Khuda Ke Liye is not good enough for a whole year. We dont even get to see good US/UK films in our cinemas apart from some fazool action mar dhar stuff…
Cinemas whatever :P
I just liked the apple part =)
ps: havent tested Cinepax as yet, DHA Cinema’s inside is a pretty story – reds and blue flickers – Nice!!
u mean (pine) apple :)
I think Bee movie(animated) is around the corner?
Oyee A, movie dekhnei Lahore ja sakti ho, aur pindi nahin?
Kiya logic hai iman sai :D
Iman :| .. Iman Ali… in a Bee Movie? :|
i dont think that u can compare a single screen theatre infact an auditorium to a grand multiplex which is made with the latest international equipment and technology.obviously u can feel the difference without even watching at both the places
Let’s face it when talking about cinemas, good sound is more important then quality of bathrooms. DHA Cinema is a good cinema while Cinepax is a good…ahem…resting place.
@SELF
Make your own opinion :)that’s what I said!!!
Talha, I hardly ever read the main article….life is too short. Most of the time it works and no one is any wiser. :P
:)
I experienced a constant Hissing sound in DHA’s cinema, BTW … and something else too that was not very appreciative.
When Shaan sahib was gettinga good beat … someone from the projector room said loudly, “Phayi neechay jaa ee reyo tay aye do baltiyaan paani tay phar le ayo” :P Every one started laughing instead of frowning on Shaan’s haalat.
@ talha:
Just a correction.
The telenor sponsorship had nothing to do with the quality of the building etc. They have zero involvement in the planning of the cinema.
I can say this statement because I happen to know the CEO and the marketing heads of Cinepax, and the telenor team that was involved in the deal too.
In fact telenor came into the equation fairly late after they outbid another telecom company for the branding arrangements.
@Isnpirex,
I know. I have more friends and acquaintances in Telenor that it looks more like a second home ;)
I am just saying that it does give an extra edge getting a LOT of money. A small share of a big pie is more than a big share of a small pie always :D
And Hasan, I acknowledge your acknowledgment on the original post :D.
Thanks again!!!
